Poor performance by England but in the end they saved it so we live to fight another day.

Imagine how ****ed off and totally deflated they must feel in that Aussie dressing room right now. It was there for the taking but they could not bowl England out. Can only boost our morale and Ponting will have a hell of a job picking them up before Lord's on Thursday I feel.

We will go into that Test on a high but changes will have to be made that is for certain.

England will be well aware they got out of jail here, and it will give them a huge kick up the arse. Let's just be delighted we robbed the convicts, are not 1-0 down and that they'll be gutted and furious over there.

Although England have been quite poor in this match, it is the sort of game that they have lost easily against the convicts in the past. Off to Lords where England's record against them is woeful.

now who would have thought that was going to happen?at 3 oclock this after noon?? what a get out of jail last day feels like a win and Im still buzzing, going Lords next week cant wait

Thrilling stuff, and it felt like a win at the end ... loved the bit where the physio came out, patted Anderson on the back, and trotted off again .. the Aussies were naturally going mad at this .. priceless comedy

Monty was a hero at the end, especially as i said to the mate i was watching with that he'd last 2 or 3 balls at the most .. shame that he'll need to be dropped for Lords but that's cricket i guess, he was picked as a bowler and didn't perform

I said the exact same thing about Monty, but fair play to him and Anderson. Who would have thought they'd have seen off them last 12 overs? Not me I tell you.

A special mention to Collingwood though. I'm not his biggest fan, but when our other batsmen where performing terribly he really stood up and was counted and thats the type of spirit a few more of our team need to show if we are going to regain the Ashes. Superb innings Colly!

It's Old Trafford (was it? Or was it Edgbaston?) all over again, just reversed.

It was Old Trafford in 2005 when Lee & McGrath held out for a draw for the convicts.

Fair play to Anderson & Panesar, but I think that Flintoff, Broad and Swann should all get a mention for the length of time they occupied the crease with Collingwood.

Great stuff after Colly went it was very tense, but Jimmy and Monty were superb also Swann who took a battering but got through it and batted well. Colly was the hero though what an innings!!

Awesome stuff and what test cricket is all about!

As you can imagine being in Sydney means I've had a fair amount of stick this morning! I'm not sure we should be celebrating England getting a draw. I thought we were absolutely awful, especially from about tea on day 2, where we looked completely bereft of ideas.

To me it seemed that England had decided it was going to rain, would probably be a draw, so let's just chuck the ball down the track and get it overwith, whereas Australia (and this is what makes them a great team) looked like they had the attitude to go for a win at every stage.

The sight of the England bowlers laughing and joking while Australia were happily churning 6+ per over and all racking up centuries makes me very concerend about our attitude. The management need to give them a massive reality check or else we will be thumped out of the park at Lords

Totally agree. shocking lack of focus.. Its huge escape for us.. Lets hope they realise this and we try a bit more 'test' match application at Lords.. Also dont look at our record against the Aussies at Lords.. its not pretty

Brilliant, brilliant entertainment yesterday evening. England got out of jail in that game and now have to make the most of it. Im not one for making panic changes, but there probably needs to be one or two additions to the team, if only because the bowlers had to put in a lot of overs due to their lack of incisiveness.

It seems pretty certain that either Harmy or Onions will come in for Panesar to give an additional seamer. Will Broad go? I heard rumours today that he has a calf strain but dunno if this is just a softening before the axing. If he is fit, and we are playing an extra seamer then I would keep him in. Being 4th seamer, and not taking the new ball, will take some pressure off of him and his batting is far better than Harmy, Onions or Sidebottoms - and look how important tail end runs are.

The batting, well unfortunately I just cant see any suitable replacements at the moment. A look at the leading English domestic run scorers shows Trescothick at the top (and despite how much we miss him I can't see him returning), the Hildreth, Ramprakash and Blackwell., in amongst the usual Kolpak suspects. Hildreth has been spoke about for a couple of years but he plays on a belting track at Somerset. Id rather KP took responsibility and played at 3, but otherwise think the batting will remain as it is.

Out of interest, is Tresco still saying he won't play, or is it that he is considered to have burned his bridges with the England set-up? Much as I love to see Essex players in the England side, I would take Tresco at 2 and KP at 3 over Cookie and Ravi all day long. I think Ravi would be better suited at 5, behind Colly.

I believe he has officially retired from international cricket. Reading his book (recommended - Im not a great fan of sportsmans autobiographies but this was a decent and easy read) he can no longer cope with travelling away and in credit to him, he didnt want to say that he would play home matches but not away ones.

Don't think he was ever fully appreciated when he was in the team, but we have missed him massively since his problems. If he was over his mental problems Id have him back like a shot....

Agree on Ravi, he has the flair but when the first wicket goes down early Im not sure he has the defence and doggedness to stablise the innings yet.
