The American Gun Law

Thought this might amuse a few of you:

And this is only part 1!

It absolutely beggars belief that any rational & sane person can actually defend the sale of these guns let alone the wider argument involving assault rifles etc.

Come on Rusty, defend the indefensible.

****ing unbelievable.

Maybe if the 2 year old had a gun as well this wouldnt have happened....

The gun laws in America are indeed ridiculous but they will never learn. I am however a complete hypocrite as I have an interest in guns myself and if I lived over there Im sure I would own one as a hobby. However I wouldnt go as far as saying I had a right to own one if the law said I couldnt.

I recall reading somewhere that the 2nd amendment was put in place to allow for local militia to be formed easily so that the new independant country did not incur the cost of employing a large army

As ratified by the States and authenticated by Thomas Jefferson, Secretary of State:

A well regulated militia being necessary to the security of a free state, the right of the people to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed.

Give the might of the US Military now surely the need for a well regulated Militia is far less and thus the need for civilians to access to arms is also less.

I have a shotgun and an assault rifle. They are kept in a secure locker and my children have never even seen them. If somebody ever broke into my house, I would shoot them, and my kids would be safe. That is a right that I cherish, and I'm not having it taken away because some people are too stupid to look after their guns properly.

Rusty

I understand the right to bear arms is the 2nd Amendment, Is the right to shoot someone for trespass, in the Constitution also or is it something which has been set by legal precedent , maybe as in "addition" to the 2nd ?
