Thanks Kev - but is a new manager needed?

I have a feeling regardless of the football that nothing will change for a long time. Maher et Al could be here well into next season and beyond regardless.

There is no one is COSU who are experienced football people. They are fans with money and money that is their own.

The collective noise from the owners appears to be patience and spending care as it's their own cash.

To.remove them it's going to cost a fair bit (3 year contracts recently signed?) to pay them out which also won't sit well with people digging into their pocket to spend money on paying out a contract for 1-3 people that will no longer be here.

It appears the noise is more focus on rebuilding the foundations around the team which means not rocking the boat on the football side.

This means more patience and hope that things will improve within the playing budgets. As long as we aren't in a relegation fight.

I don't see or hear a hunger for promotion. It's all about consolidation which means this is it. I'm fairly sure next season will be the same.

When I hear that the ambition is a big push for promotion that's when poor performances and turgid football will not be accepted.

I think we have Maher for at least 2 more seasons unless he himself leaves.

It's not what my preference is but I don't see nor hear the required ambition to be put pressure won the management team to perform.

Bitten by some realism today. What do you think

theres a ton of ambition all over the place, but any ambitions should absolutely be built on a solid foundation and even on the eve of this season starting the clownshow was still in full effect. Next season should be the one to really go for it. An actual proper real pre- season, no embargoes, no player strikes a full schedule of friendlies....something Kev has yet to have during his time here. How do you think our owners became rich without ambition btw, results matter far more than 'pretty' football. A rebuild season for now, then have a real go next season after a normal pre season (just one lol) If we poop the bed in the first couple of months then it may be time for a change but as i have said many times Kev has more than enough credit in the bank (for now)

I don't really get this pre season needed. I can understand that for the first few games. But we've played 28 games now. Surely we can't keep blaming pre season for these turgid displays.
our league form is decent, creeping up the table. Expectations on how dazzling non league football is going to be maybe need managing for some.
Pre season is vital for any team, particularly when you have a list of players you want and literally can not sign them, surely that not difficult to understand. Its not about fitness its about not being able to get players in then settling for the likes of Bonne and Moncur, plus all the other events around this time, nowhere near the situation you want to set you up for the season.

If we manage to get into the play offs it would be one up on last season and COSU would be very pleased with that and would possibly be patting themselves on the back but at what stage do they decide it’s time to get out this league and is Kev the man to do it.

Personally, I think if by some miracle we got promoted it would be a disaster because one we are not prepared mentally of physically for the EFL right now and two I doubt there’s enough money in the kitty to splash out on players that can hold their own in L2.

We was blessed with exceptional season tickets
Sales this season but I can’t see that happening again in a hurry, so it will all be about getting bums on seats and if this current style of footie persists we will see crowds start to dwindle a tad.

I’d wager by the end of October next season we will have a better indication of where this is going with Kev.

I suspect next season was always going to see a season ticket decline - saw numerous posts on here from people saying they'll get one to support Cosu even though can only make half a dozen games. Some of those were always going to not renew next season.

As long as Cosu haven't revised longer term budgets based on this year's ticket sales then it won't be a problem - Obvs rather maintain or improve ticket sales but that's not always achievable.

This season we sold 4200 season cards and its been woeful value.

I'd be surprised to see as many as 3000 next season if the current management remain.

And crowds dropping to around 5k from 7k on a matchday as people vote with their feet

Don't think that will be the case until next season. This will be the first pre-season in which KM is on equal terms with every team at this level. Given how many players - and very good ones - we missed out on due to being in umbongo prison makes for an enticing summer. If we start badly then that's when attendances will truly drop.

While I realise this season has been a disappointing one so far for a chunk of our fanbase, the shambles and near-death last summer knocked my expectations back one season. We probably won't reach the play-offs this season but then again, we haven't seen Chambers play yet...

Thing is I was born in Leigh-on-Sea, Southend is my local club, I have supported them for 50 plus years through thick and thin. My support isn’t only conditional on when things go well. I’m not a part time fan. Of course, we no doubt have a number of people who come and watch only because they can’t afford the ticket prices at West Ham. There is always an element of “soft” “fans” but I think the true fan base is more resilient than you give them/us credit for..

I tend to agree with you that Season Card sales will drop. However if the team is performing near the top of the table attendances will be back to 6500/7000. That would mean selling 3 to 4000 individual match day tickets per game which would produce better revenue than if the seats were already sold to SC holders.

so in essence what you are saying that if for the next 2 seasons are the same as this and Maher is still here ,we may have another rat family in our midst and im not meaning COSU. bECAUSE I KNOW MYSELF IF I WAS THE MANAGER AND PROFESSED TO LOVE THIS CLUB AND THE RESULTS UNDER MY MANAGEMENT WERE SO BAD I WOULD RESIGN .

Would be good to hear from him at some point, doubt we will, but he’s the one that’s always been of big interest to media. Having Rangers, he’s been mainly silent thusfar unsurprisingly.
There were, until very recently, strict rules on multi-club ownership from the Scottish FA. I suspect that he's keeping his head down publicly despite possibly being the most qualified one in the group.

No evidence that will happen.

Over 10 years since we last dipped below 6k (not including covid) and over 20 years since we were regularly below 5k.

Moreover, average attendances have actually increased year on year, every year, since we were relegated out of the football league.

So your talking about signing players and how we didn't sign the right ones. And your saying pre season is nothing to do with fitness. I think your missing slightly what pre season means. Pre season is working with the players you have. Gelling into a team and getting fit. Signing players is a different matter. If you sign some players that's great and something you do generally pre season or just after the season has started or in January. In your words - WHAT PART OF THAT DON'T YOU UNDERSTAND.
