yes your quite right !!Oldham?

Is this what qualifies for a decent rumour these days? Claiming bosses plan to meet with their staff? Load of sensationalist nothingness if you ask me.
I'm confident Maher and co will get a full pre-season and 10-15 games next season unless we implode over the next month or two. Personally feel conflicted as Maher, Daz and Benno showed insane levels of loyalty to the club and arguably had us playing better football and achieving superior results in easily more testing circumstances. However, the squad are clearly underperforming, the football is turgid and Kev really has an inability to take ownership and show a bit of contrition for his own errors. To overcome his managerial shortcomings, COSU are going to have to back him well for next season and hope it's enough. I'm not convinced.
You missed out Ronnie Whelan Alan Little and Rob Newman , none will ever be 'Legends' .Remind me of one former player that went on to manage us that lost the respect of the fans after leaving as a manager? I guess everyone is different, but for me, none have lost any respect and legend status.
I don't get the 'no more former players' argument. They know the club, probably have a positive affinity with club and fans. BTW, not aimed at amsemp; just general anti former players as managers.
- Peter Taylor - Still a legend
- Steve Tilson - Still a legend
- Chris Powell - Still a legend
- Kev Maher - Still and always a legend
FWIW, I still think Kev is the man, but we need quite a substantial squad change in the summer. Far too many haven't Lived up to their record and hype and I don't think its all down to management
Consistently so!We are consistently inconsistent.
Oldham, the biggest club by a country mileVery few big clubs in this league, my estimation on a big club is looking at their past history ,what they have achieved Southend definitely one ,maybe Hartlepool ,Rochdale, Gateshead, definitely not Barnet and FGR, Not sure you can call Daggers a big club either and Halifax im not sure of their history ,Cant think of any others.
I like your description of the teams season so far, what irks me is a club like Gateshead have lost quality players over last few seasons and quickly replace them , and they are still up there challenging. My fear is if the club performance remains the same next season it will rapidly turn toxic and lead to falling attendances both home and away. Can someone add a poll please.
Enough is enough, this season has been unacceptable on every level. Cry me a river over Cardwell and Kensdale, we should not be playing as crap as we are with the squad we have.
The tactics are unchanging and negative, we are getting beat by part time teams, our home form is a joke, we have probably hit 2 shots from outside the box all season and the heat map for possession in our own half each game is hotter than the centre of the sun.
Time to go
Unless you're Justin or a member of the consortium and are willing to detail the motive of any prospective meeting, I'd say it's an attempt to sensationalise something that's absolutely normal. After a god awful result a meeting was called for Kev to speak with Cosu.
Justin decided to cancel it and wants to speak to him when he comes back to the UK..
It's a thread about Kev getting the boot, so I thought it might be relevant
And there you have identified what ShrimperZone is very good at currently.Unless you're Justin or a member of the consortium and are willing to detail the motive of any prospective meeting, I'd say it's an attempt to sensationalise something that's absolutely normal.
While Justin Rees probably never expected automatic promotion this year, I think there have been signs for sometime that some members of COSU have been concerned about some of the decision-making by the current management team. It should not be forgotten that the business success of Justin and his COSU colleagues probably owes a lot to their ability to evaluate people and opportunities, and to take decisive action if and when the need arises. After a god awful result a meeting was called for Kev to speak with Cosu.

I wouldn't call any of those 3 Southend legends before taking the management role though. You missed out Ronnie Whelan Alan Little and Rob Newman , none will ever be 'Legends' .
We did attack teams at the beginning of 23/24 season when we could barely get a team out. Memory has probably gone a bit rose tinted, and didn't happen as often as my memory would like to think, but I recall we were up 1 or 2 goals within the first 30 mins as we hit teams hard from the kickoff, probably because we knew we didn't have a bench to freshen things up if we left it too long.I saw Barrett and Tilson were watching a game at home recently and the next game we attacked Dagenham, I did wonder whether their presence there motivated him to change things. I could be wrong obviously but it's not been normal for Maher to attack teams.
I don't know that this is true. After a god awful result a meeting was called for Kev to speak with Cosu.

Could I suggest you read the Minutes from the Trust meeting on 23rd January which Tom Lawrence attended. They are freely available and will definitely tell you what the thinking is. My guess, you probably won't like what you read.Am I right in thinking there are 14 members of COSU. If that's right then I would imagine their views are as diverse as those on this forum. Maybe they have their own poll running. It would be interesting to know what the consensus was and who has the final say.
IMO we need to go on a decent unbeaten run & be more attacking in our football, otherwise next seasons intake of STH will plummet which will be a major concern for COSU regarding their future plans, with a hefty drop in revenue?.If I was a member of COSU, particularly one of the long time fan ones, I'd not be happy with how the season has gone from am emotive point of view and I'd not be happy as an investor that, we might start losing attendance figures because of the lame duck football we play.
I think it's a given that Kev gets to the end of the season, if he can turn things around, play some more driven football and go on a good run - then he will still be here in the summer. If this farty side to side, slow crap continues and a poor finish below the top 10...I'd be letting Justin know he's not someone I trust with my team and money going forward.
