Thanks Kev - but is a new manager needed?

'If' is the essence of speculation. The league table for the season is what counts, not selecting recent results.
Okay I’ll give you that.

Now that Maher DOES have the squad depth he wanted, he IS bringing results and over the last 12 games (since squad depth has been improved) we ARE the 3rd best team in the league.

In Maher we trust. We can’t just discount form when looking at whether Maher should go. Now he has the tools, he is bringing more success. That is fact.

Disingenuous nonsense. We’ve been stuck in the NL for all these years due to the multi-year mismanagement of the club.

A situation that was only properly arrested 7-months ago.
You shouldn't use words like that. Someone will take that to mean JR is in Police custody.

That is just speculation. At present the fact remains our goal difference is worse than Halifax and we are six points behind them.
You do know that wins and losses change goal difference don't you? We're only 3 goals worse than Halifax. To overtaken them we will have to win and they will have to not win. A 3 goal swing will be gobbled up within that. Now, if the difference were, say, 15 goals then you'd have a point, but at 3 you don't.

Patronising comments like that add nothing to the debate. Fact: we are 6 points behind Halifax with an inferior goal difference. Whether that changes for the better over the next few games is pure speculatlon at the present time

I'm quite happy to quote myself again, because my post was not patronising. I would argue your's is more so because you're assuming people aren't clever enough to work out the maths and see how disingenuous you're being.

Nothing disingenuous about simply stating the reality of the situation as it is at the moment. Wishing something to happen doesn't mean it will. All sorts of permutations are possible and we will have to wait and see.

I think we'll finish above Halifax anyway. Rochdale will be a lot more difficult. They are a better side than Halifax, and with all those games in hand. The good news is that fixture congestion will affect them. It will be interesting to see how it plays out. Kevin Maher's blue and white army, is finally on the march.

I said a few weeks ago that Alty are the team we need to run down.

If we can continue in this rich vein of form, the game against them at RH next month could be massive.

In Kev we trust

Whilst I agree with the general point being made that Halifax and their goal difference are very much a reasonable target. The highlighted part would only be true if there were 2 games left.

Overturning the 6 point deficit on Halifax over 14 games doesn’t guarantee we will have a better goal difference. Although it is of course possible.

Anyone else feel it's slightly ironic that we have an ongoing thread, since November, as to the legitimacy of our Head Coach still being in the job and yet opinions are being expressed as to if we can make up enough points to secure a play off spot! Given the title of this thread you might expect to see opinions as to if we are going to avoid relegation, just saying 😉

For the record I'd love Kev to orchestrate a play off charge (unlikely as it may be). Likewise I won't go red faced screaming at the players when we lose. OK being in the NL isn't ideal but let's try and enjoy it, let's have a bit of hope and get behind the players a bit .... it's all we've got!

I think that is how I feel in general. We are here in the Conference - just got to get on with it and enjoy what we can when we can. [thumbs up]
