Thanks Kev - but is a new manager needed?

To my knowledge our 15th month embargo was the 2nd longest ever in English football. @Exiled Shrimper would be well placed to confirm details.

I think Sol's problem was covid and his medical issues with likability.
It was certainly shorter than Reading's, which lasted a little over two years from 8th July 2021 to 13th July 2023, but I'd need to do a lot more research to check if it was the second longest in English football. After a fortnight, they were placed under another embargo (which only lasted a week on that occasion).

Let's get to the end of this season with the three amigo's still running the show. Southend are not getting relegated and have a slim chance of making the play off's. Season 25-26 they will have the first pre season for a long while to sign players, have a full pre season of training and friendly matches. Only then once the season is underway will we have any idea of how good the three amigo's are. Reflecting on the issues the club has had over the last few season's only then will we truly be able to assess the management team.

But then we'd be 18th instead of 11th.
no football is an entertainment business we have won whilst playing some absolutely crab boring football, just because we sit 11th dosent mean the football has been entertaining . we could be in the playoffs yet still playing crab ,sideways backwards dull boring football ,obviously thats what you would like ,Myself ive always stated win or lose i love football tobe entertaining goalmouth duels, scintillating fast forward drives by players etc ,players willing to give everything for the shirt, Not the slow drab football thats been dished up so often this season.

I get what you're saying. Wanting him to succeed means giving him the opportunity to succeed, which also means giving him an unhindered summer of transfer business to have a mini rebuild, and not crying for him to be sacked after a loss or a "bad performance", or when we're one of the in form teams in the division and only 3-6 points off the playoffs despite having another ****e summer and starting somewhat behind.

I get what @Tampa Blue is saying, and don't doubt him.....but I also see how the two things could be perceived to be at odds.
You may be right, Medway Blue, but while Kevin Maher has certainly been hampered by the impact of RM's time at the club and did brilliantly in difficult circumstances last season, some of his problems this season have been self-inflicted.

I do think the vast majority of supporters want Maher's management team to be successful, but doubts have crept in because of his tactics and use of players in what has largely been a disappointing season so far. Hopefully, we will get more of the same after the excellent Halifax result and have a strong finish to the season, but in my experience opportunities have to be continually earned rather than expected because of past achievements.
