another week no signings it all started so well with 2 in may .
You won't see major movement until July. It's always how it isExactly when are player back end of June? Need to get a move on
I know Kev Maher went on a golfing holiday with several footy buddies including Mark Gower, Johnnie Jackson and our manager Wayne Brown. This time last year, we made our first signing of the summer with Rhys Murphy just to put things into perspective a little bit.
The majority of our “big players” when it comes to transfers have been, or are away on holiday. Maher has been away twice for example. Targets have/are on holiday too. Our players have/are on holiday. Powell & Clifford, for example, have been away with Lewis Gard and Gard has signed for a new Club today.
Some like to get things up before they go, some will wait until they are back. Holidays are booked months in advance, and maybe some of our targets weren’t expected to be released.
We’ve had fantastic weather today, the weather looks good for the weekend, and we have the Southend half marathon on Sunday. Get out and enjoy the sunshine and stop refreshing Twitter/SZ every 5 minutes.

He looks well different nowCorrect, and ex-Shrimper and football agent, David Lee too.
I think a golfing holiday with the Col Ewe manager was one of the punishments used in Guantanamo.I know Kev Maher went on a golfing holiday with several footy buddies including Mark Gower, Johnnie Jackson and our manager Wayne Brown.
I can understand if they have a good job outside of football but it also says to me that they arent that confident in their ability to make a success as a professional footballer .Also maybe they have a young family and think their job outside of football is more important for the family.
I think this is a good question.@BoyWonder2 out of the players you know we are interested in are there any that would be classed as a wow signing and show the rest of the league we will be challenging next season?
It is indeed a very good question.I think this is a good question.
I have come to feel over the last season that, in terms of club size and budget, we should be looking at picking up the outstanding players from the smaller clubs at this level. Those that shone at the likes of Dover and Kings Lynn etc. I wouldn’t be expecting us to pick up League One players like the big spenders but surely as a club the pull should be sufficient to get the stand outs from the National League?
Mooney and Miley are both great starts and would expect a few more along those lines which will make others stand up.
Barnard, Kightly, Dervite werre definitely not drossSpurs u 23s are the worst. Apart from the main man Maher we only ever get dross from Spurs

So…reading between the lines…no more signings of Mooneys calibre to be expected or at least currently being looked at.Depends what you mean by WOW.
I’d class Mooney is this category. He is a “statement of intent” signing. The divisions young player of the year, an outstanding performer at his Club over the course of the season, and someone we beat off competition from elsewhere to sign with us.
I think Miley will prove to be a very shrewd acquisition too, maybe not a headline grabber, but an integral cog, and someone that we will really notice when he isn’t there.
I’ll be honest, some of the names I’d never heard of, but I’d never heard of the likes of Cardwell, Husin et all. That’s my ignorance of this division and divisions below. Some names I had heard of too.
For example, I’d never heard of Shep. But once I looked into him, I felt he’d be a good signing. I knew about a week back that wasn’t happening. He has a very good job outside of football, and earns a good amount at Brackley and we couldn’t/wouldn’t compete with those two wages combined. He is 27, so we also couldn’t offer him the “security” of a multi year deal, that might make the drop in wages, along with fulfilling a dream to become professional, enough for him to sign. I had a mate, who turned down Colchester a couple of years back for the same reasons.
I don’t know about Shep’s private/family life. If he was 21/22, maybe he’d have taken the risk, maybe we’d have taken the risk of a multi year deal. I don’t know figures or length of contract on the table, but I know he wasn’t our primary target.
So, again, this shows the likes of that fake Twitter account with NL rumours, and the likes of Simply Shrimpers, don’t know what they are talking about. They steal rumours, and in some cases, make them up entirely. Some will come true, and then they can claim to be ITK, however the majority will be garbage.
So…reading between the lines…no more signings of Mooneys calibre to be expected or at least currently being looked at.
Interesting approach but I think with a man like John Still involved I am sure there are plenty of unknown gems he will be bringing to the table.
