Purely because you lot spent most of yesterday evening posting about him. He can stay as ? for now as although there's plenty of chat, there's very little in the way of reasonable rumours. He did however have a spell at Daggers, although brief. So you would assume Mr Still knows all about him.

He was at Maidstone United as well at the time Still was their Director of Football.

While I agree that we shouldn't be relying on their old players, it was just a coincidence that Tom Mehew was an ex-Bristol Rovers player. If we go for him, then I am sure it is because he is good enough and not based on limited contacts we have had in the past.

I really hope we get Mooney. He has scored a good amount of goals for a winger and while a few are from being in the right place for a cross, most of them are from his ability to create them for himself.

He has scored 6 goals in 184 appearances...so I hope the former observation is closer to the reality than the second :-)

If he comes in I sincerely hope he is an upgrade - indeed that applies to all signings as if not we may find ourselves in the NL beyond next season.

If we achieve these improvements focussing on bringing in players from NLN/NLS/NL, and beat those teams investing more heavily in players from the EFL, paying big fees and wages or whatever, then it will be a fantastic achievement by the management team and their ability to identify, for want of a better description, those "hidden gems".

I remain very hopeful on one hand, but feel the need to show patience as we build this new World on the other. And that includes tempering expectations and giving those new signings a chance to settle and show what they can do (if necessary).

Yes Rooney does seem a very good fit.

Offered new deals:

Kyle Wootton - Will obviously be off to the league anyway.
Richard Brindley - Cracking player but wouldn’t be surprised if he fancied a move back to London and/or League Two.
Adam Chicksen - Model pro and does a job in three different positions, no brainer.
Tiernan Brooks - Young ‘keeper, not made his debut yet.

Released:

Alex Lacey - Quality player but probably misses too many games with knocks and niggles to justify being one of our highest earners, so fair enough.
Dion Kelly-Evans - Doesn’t fit the ‘style of play’ so not a surprise. Great lad though and will be a good signing for someone in this league.
Tyreace Palmer - Youngster, don’t think he ever made his debut even.

Most interesting thing is probably that the accompanying quote is from the board and not IB.."
 
If one of the rumoured signings is Cav Miley, As he is officially announced as unattached, I don't understand why we haven't announced him, even if his contract wasn't starting until a date in the future. In the same manner that Woking announced the signing of Dan Moss:

"Woking Football Club is delighted to announce that Dan Moss has agreed to sign for the Club once his existing contract with Millwall ends on 30th June."

Their article continued from there, so maybe one of the confirmed signings isn't Cav Miley.........yet?
