My daughter dreams of having a VW t-roc. Sadly, it's out of her financial reach. Happily she is not obsessed with it and settles for her old but reliable Fiesta. I just get worried about some people's obsession with à certain Polish defender. I just hope that the powers that be don't have a similar obsession which could detract from us finding a suitable alternative defender, who could do the necessary job.

I’d like to think we are still in conversation with Lopata’s representatives.

However I’d also like to think we haven’t put our eggs in one basket. We do need that commanding leader who can boss that defence and lead the line. I genuinely think Kensdale could step up though. Every game I saw him last season he improved with every game. And if he’s not the one then I have faith in our management team that they’ll bring someone in.

Never fall in love with loan, comes to mind. Personally I think Lopata is pipe dream now.

When it comes to loan moves are we (those in The Conference) "at the mercy" of the timings from the Football League with regard to transfer windows?

By that, I mean that we may have to wait until some more activity takes place higher up the pyramid before clubs will determine which players they will loan out/surplus to current requirements/given development & game time elsewhere.

I wanted a 2019 Ford Fiesta ST-Line a couple years back.

Settled for a £750 2006-reg Fiesta Zetec but it more than does the job at a much better price

Maybe we can find a player loan or perm on a much better deal that does the job.

I don’t imagine anything has “happened”, more that these things take time and we probably have more than one option to loan in, but want to make sure it’s the right one.

Of course I could be wrong and terrible things have happened.

We’d all love Lopata don’t get me wrong but think a left sided centre half is exactly what we need for either cover for Ralph or let Ralph go out to LWB

Think people will be surprised with Lomas. I know he is very well thought of and plays way beyond his years. Yes he has been injured for a few weeks but played against Concord and would have had another full weeks training. As much as Lopata would be great I have a feeling Lomas is going to be a real player for us

If that is the case then we are sorted … but a huge ask for someone of his age and precious standard and level of playing ! But let’s see he could be the answer

One league below last season, in the team of the season and in a defence that only conceded 26 goals all season, yes it was NLN but teams like Dorking who we played in the cup show the standard in the leagues below. The worst thing for lomas and us is that he hasn’t played the likes of Colshite, Gills, Ipswich so we havnt seen what level he is at, but fingers crossed he comes good

This may well to turn out to be the case. Either that or we’re planning on a loan signing for experience at the back. Having a leader at the back is surely one of the first things you look to sort when building a side capable of challenging at the top end of a division. So for me, with the players we have, we’re either an experienced centre half light and are currently on the lookout, or we think we already have that character within the squad.

It would be amazing if we did get another over the line by the weekend! One more up top and a left-sided centre back (and vocal leader) and we’re looking in great shape IMO
