Are there any other strikers in talks with the club or is Wreh it for the time being? Still think we need another.
I would hope so, and it needs to be a particular kind of player. A tall ****house who can lead the line, be a threat in the air and get his bonce on the end of a cross into the box. That is something we simply don't have at the moment, especially with Cards out injured. We don't need any more second striker/winger types.

I think we’re missing pace more than height. We need a central forward that can a) close down and press opponents into mistakes and b) force defences to drop deeper as they’re scarred of the pace getting in behind - this in turn opens up more room for Mooney, Bridge, Husin, Fonguck etc to run at them, pick out passes.

Hopefully they have both but complete players aren’t easy to come by at this level!

What else is required then?

Personally I’d like to see another aerial threat up front and another defender. On loan if needs be.
I’m somewhat confused by why we need another striker especially an aerial threat. We have Dalby and Wreh fit for start of season and then Cardwell and Murphy to come in. All offer something a little different.

Personally if we have a little money burning a hole I would bring in a left sided centre half and free up Ralph to challenge with Clifford for the left wing back role.

Maybe a keeper who could challenge Steve for the number 1 as Colin is way off doing that. And when he was injured last season we missed him massively.

Is that not Powell? He will run and run.

I take you are not serious? You're seeming more & more like a troll.
What I mean is are Kev and co going away from loans, and only interested in signing players on permiment deals,so we can develop them and get a good sell on.there's no sign of any loan deals even gubbins as gone quite.

We were in league one though.

He is but he’s not a striker. When you play a front 3 you either play with 2 conventional wingers up there as they spend a lot of the game out wide, or conventional strikers with pace so when a chance falls there’s someone there that’s likely to finish it.

That’s why Matt Dennis was successful. He’d played wide for us in earlier games, had pace to burn but could also finish chances.

I expect Powell to chip in this season but I think we still need a pacey striker to effectively replace Dennis.

What about the Norwich goalkeeper who Kev wanted to sign on loan before he got injured?

I think when the football league transfer window closes we will be able to take advange of the loans season like so many non league clubs have done in the past

He’s gone to someone in Ireland on loan for the season. It was on here about a week or so ago

In my opinion the trialist keeper we had on Saturday is not tall enough (I think Colin is taller). Imagine playing Wrexham and others with the long throws into the box, that would be a worry without someone who has the stature to help out the defence and claim the balls into the box like Steve does.

Unless you are a Flahavan, and even he had a few issues, then ideally we need a strapper of a keeper, someone that makes Steve look tiny.?
Khazakstan has a lot of tall people, as do the Tutsi, must be a great keeper who would like to come here from FC Astana or Kenya??

Powell was brought in to do this. He was brought in as a striker a role he had converted to at Kettering.

Does Tony Parker have a goalkeeping son?

Yep. Kicking was dreadful, slow to distribute, also very suspect every time a cross came in.

Surely thats incredibly harsh, no?

He had 1 shot against him while he was on. Slow to distribute? I would expect so, given he most likely didn't even the know the names of our back line and most certainly would not have known their preferred foot. Wether we play out from the back and if our management team play with a pivot etc.

Be interesting to see if he is involved tonight.

Might be harsh, although I am only saying what I observed in a short 45 mins.

On a physical level, he is no more imposing than Colin Andeng-Ndi and in the NL it's not something we can afford.

The frequency of crosses in this league requires a confident, tall keeper able to claim the ball and put a stop to opposition attacks.
