not sure if he will play second fiddle to Murphy He has has a history of injury problems at his last clun and now with us .So who knows where he will fit in in kevins plan .
Murphy has been out of action for a while now. If and when he returns there is no guarantee he will come back as effective as he was before his injury,

I know it's been mentioned in passing a few times on here but I can't help but think that with Kacper we would/are throwing in the captaincy as part of the package. While obviously this is more the package for the player rather than Sheffield United, you could argue that it is likely to increase his value over time and therefore the value of any sell-on clause. Also, would we normally have announced the captain for the season by now? Apologies if I missed this.

Not always a good thing for some players making them captain, especially so young. I personally prefer it when a centre mid is captain.
I think we'd be mad not to make him captain. Doesn't matter how old he is or where he plays. A leader is a leader, and Kacper Łopata is a leader. And an organiser. Very vocal. You only have to watch him for a few mins to see it. Poland U21 captain too, for good reason. I'd be putting the armband straight on him. There are no other stand-out candidates in the squad for it IMO.

Agreed.

As soon as he came in he was organising the defence and very vocal. Quite something really when you consider he's "just a kid" and he started naturally barking orders around to the more senior pro's, even though he just arrived.

Also highlights what a shambles Kev inherited.

Definitely agreed. We looked great first half but didn’t get the goals our play deserved. I’d like to see Miley, Fonguck, Powell and Mooney all on the pitch at the same time (not to mention Bridge etc). We do need a striker though. For all the many things Daley brings to our play he doesn’t bring enough goal threat IMO and currently we don’t have an option on the bench who offers as much or more threat than him.
You touch on an important point when you comment that we have yet to see a few of what seem to be our 'key' players on the pitch at the same time.
In fact, right now it is hard to predict who will be taking the field when we play our first fixture.
Not only that but it should also be noted that after hundreds of posts on this thread in respect of potential signings very little attention has been paid to potential incoming loan players.
We have assembled what looks to be a useful looking squad. Last season the quality of the players brought in on loan by Kev & Co was a pleasant surprise. The addition of one or two loan signings of a similar standard will surely make us very competitive indeed.
Just missing out on signing Kelly underlined our present lack of striking options, a situation not improved by the fact that two presently out with long term injuries play up front.
I would doubt if those responsible for assembling the squad feel they have reached the stage where they are even close to exhausting all possibilities.
In short, it seems a little too early to panic about our prospects (or lack of them). Yes, even on SZ!
As a matter of interest, can anyone tell me if potential loan players were listed on the whiteboard?

It is interesting Kev hasnt formally named a captain at this stage - must point to someone else potentially coming in otherwise no real reason to hold off is there?... 👀
Last season John White was named captain the day before the season started. In 2019 Mark Milligan was named as captain in the week leading up to the start of the season, so it’s not that strange.

With some new additions to the squad, and last year’s club captain having departed, it points more to the management team simply assessing all their options, which may or may not include any new signings. They may want to see how all the players integrate with each other in pre-season before making a final decision.

Would think JD will resume the role after the first 3 games are out the way which only cover a 2 week period. Nathan is the natural other choice as per saturday. However, if the new RB has a blinder over the first 3 games, assuming he can remain fit enough, he may continue and I would expect Ralph to carry on as captain.

Be great to have a signing or two in before tomorrow's friendly.

Any of the in the know, have any updates whether it's Wreh or other players?
