Unfortunately for Lopata for a young player a clubs hold over a player doesn't seem to end at the end of contract as Elvis found out with us.
Unlike with Elvis there would be a queue of clubs outside of England who would give Kasper an out. The only benefit to Sfeff that can come from this is proving a point to other young players- problem is it might not be a point that serves them well.

Every club is guilty of doing, it's also a two way thing with some players like Elvis and potentially Kacper too.
Players do not view themselves as commodities which is fair enough.
Academies etc and youth development cost money, and, in some cases, the sums are considerable. Clubs see players as the fruits of their investment.
Are the two positions irreconcilable?

Elvis didn’t refuse to play for us either.
I stand corrected. I know Tom said we were paying his wages- so he was happy to come in and train, and play if selected, but we told him to stay way?

Or was this not possible because he was refusing to sign/negotiate a contract to allow this (in which case it was the obvious outcome and therefore semantics?).

Anyhow Kasper is under contract so its totally different and Elis has his own thread elsewhere..

I feel like that is the problem but also cannot be helped, football has become a thing where while the players are technically the 'workers', they have also become assets with each and every player holding a volatile value, however you'll never hear a club say that.

It's unfortunate because it hinders the players happiness because it is strictly looked at from a business POV and money when they would like to go elsewhere rather than what they would prefer. So yes it is irreconcilable but then it also isn't because clubs need the money to survive, and player assets have become a very large contribution to that as you go down the pyramid.

You could make a large venn diagram that you could put a bunch of different things in different areas regarding this type of situation.

Last post on Elvis as it’s completely off topic.

This contract expired, but for us to hold his registration, to get compensation going forward, we had to continue to pay his wages.

He wasn’t at the Club training, wasn’t in contention to ever be selected, but was being paid, in full and on time like the other players.

If he was over 24, and therefore we wouldn’t get compensation, we wouldn’t hold onto his registration like that.

So the Elvis & Lopata situations are nothing alike.

Is there any particular reason as to why Kacper is so desperate to leave what seems like a decent club from the outside? Has his head been turned by someone else?
Correct he most have a club lined up already,Probably a EFL or maybe somewhere abroad. If it was us then he would be better of signing a new deal at sheff Utd, then coming to us on loan. The wages sheff Utd have offered him will be much more than he would get here,So think it's time we moved on.

It has already been mentioned that Sheffield will not let him go anywhere until he signs a new contract, which he does not want to do.

They are very much in a stalemate at the moment.

Unfair comments on both Ooh Brettie and BBBC, both worked their socks off, got stuck in, defended set pieces well and stood tall for the team.
I think it was more with reference of being in where it hurts and getting on the end of crosses. No one can doubt their work ethic but weve not had anyone similar to these two since Barry left

A striker who does nothing but score is what we need.
We have enough attackers who can run or win headers. we need a goalscorer. A right place at the right time, fox in the box striker.
The kind of player that goes unnoticed for half the game but walks off the pitch with 2 goals.

any exist?
Well I think we already have that type of player in both Cardwell and Murphy. Mind you would certainly note Cardwell's work rate. Unfortunately, both are recovering from injury.
