Most of those have either moved on or would command a fee. I think the only player who is a free agent is Max Kretzschmar (rumoured to have interest from Col U).
Indeed. So if anyone would like to segment these into categories, feel free. Then we can perhaps start whittling the list down. That's of course assuming we are after one of the Top 25 NL goalscorers of course.

Would love this to be Michael Cheek. Top scorer in NL in 2020/21 and another good return in season just gone. Just can’t see how we could pull this one off as there would be a fee involved unless we have managed to pull off some serious sponsorship that would allow us to??

McCallum would be hilarious.

Could you really afford him? You would need to spend 10% of your budget on his annual wage. Like us your signings seem to have stalled although we don’t have as many to replace as you do. Always plenty of movement this and next week at this level.

Although I’d take someone of his calibre and record, is Cheek the sort of striker we actually need for squad balance. I’m thinking we need a quicker, run in-behind type striker. I think Matt Dennis’ pace caused teams no end of problems last year and you can get a lot of goals from a simple ball over the top if there’s a mismatch in pace on the other side.
Whilst I agree with you, it's only beneficial if the player running through on goal can actually shoot or use their pace productively. Pace in the team is most certainly needed but that shouldn't be to the detriment of possibly signing someone like Cheek.

Dennis also hit his best form when he wasn't running at players, but being in the right place at the right time to tap the rebounds in. Cheek can certainly do that, and at a more consistent rate. His record speaks for itself.

If we had any chance of signing him, we should snatch their hands off. We've all been saying that we need X amount of goals to get into the play-offs, he gives a huge proportion of that required total.

I'm all for potential but if we can get a proven striker at the right price, we'd be mad to not persevere.
