do you not think though tha every other fan is anti martin and lets face the general consensus on smith is clear and corresponds to what tbv may chant (even though the chants are few and far between). Also anti straker chants are your take on it and your opinion, to say that it was all anti straker is unfair as i for one sang it in a positive yet fun kind of way, forgive me if im wrong but i think a football ground/game should be fun.

That's why I said "it appears" before anti-Straker because I was unsure if it was support or sarcastic ****-taking.

There are many anti-Martin fans but surely there is much more to be gained by singing or chanting encouragement for the team rather than abusing the chairman .

Your comment about the ground/game should be fun is very valid but if there was more atmosphere the team would be lifted and hopefully win more at home (can't do much worse than this year anyway) and it would lead to increased success and an upward spiral.

There is a lot of work to be done to restore TBV's credibility.

Lets get this right there are possibly around 200 who think its funny to swear and scream abuse at anything which moves,You guys can be far more inventive by cheering on our players and hope from your vocal support their performances will improve.Yes this season has been poor yet I fail too see how abusing players will enhance their play.As I understand it you are one of the leaders....Please lead your troops in a decent fashion.
not being funny but i have to say, if you brake it down the chanting yesterday was actually supporting a player and was intended that way as the people who started it myself included meant it to be positive and we did not scream and swear at players. It amazes me how people can say and justify how your (not you specifically) interpretation on someone else's opinion is right.

thank you the first reasonable response i have seen ie non bias saying he was abused plus your other points are about right.

Why do you feel the need to abuse your own players be it in a funny way or other ways,If you were playing football and a mob were constantly abusing you..Would you play better?

if you mis-understood my post then i apologies but what i was saying is that we or at least i who started them off with a few others, started them off in a supporting manner its like saying we cant sing a song for freddy or gav

The people supporting TBV must come up with ideas to revert it back to it's original objectives.

I think this is the key part of what you said. Whilst I think it's good to try and make Roots Hall "intimidating" for away supporters/players to come to, TBV's main objective has got to be to benefit the team... that's what we're there for, right?

I cannot comment on yesterday as I was not there,However I have been in the North once and the West many many times and its tiresome to hear the same old abuse being hurled at our own bloody players,You lads could do so much more IMO.

Agree with this, from my point of view the general tone of the chants was supportive rather than abusive. As one of the people who helped to get it going I don't think it was started with any negative intent. From Straker's reaction he didn't seem to have any problems with it, I hope I'm right in saying that.

People wonder why some players struggle to perform at us then do well elsewhere - chants like that don't help.

The Blue Voice, formed by Smiffy and fully backed by Cricko, myself and other owners of the Zone at the time, was to be the club's 12th man -- to try and create an atmosphere in the, at the time, morgue-like Roots Hall.

The Zone assisted with drum-sticks and drum repairs and even created a separate forum for TBV to gain suggestions and comments.

It appears as the years have gone by, even with the co-operation of the club to allow access to the previously unused (in the main) North Bank, that there is less encouragement and more goading of away fans and detrimental chanting towards some of our own players. This is not why TBV was set up.

The volume levels are much louder in the North but that doesn't help when the rest of the ground can hear anti-Ron, anti-Smith and now it appears anti-Straker noises. It does nothing to enhance the reputation of TBV and the people supporting TBV must come up with ideas to revert it back to it's original objectives.

Ken I would welcome you back into the fold with open arms! Maybe this could be something to have a chat over the summer about

If the fans in the North Bank think that sarcastic chants that simply take the **** out of one of our players (good or bad, he is wearing our shirt and representing our club) are funny and do any good whatsoever supporting the team, then I really do dispair for them. To be honest, I felt embarressed to be there yesterday and hear that. Frankly, it was moronic and a disgrace.

I appreciate that blue voice for making a huge effort to try and improve the home support. However they have a difficult task as mostly everywhere else in the stadium is near enough silent for most of the game, although there is some noise at time for the South. I just don't think the support is passionate enough to make a difference and prefer to moan. I wish them all the best though.

I must confess the away games always seem to get better "vocals" (in a positive way)...Dags and Wombles were good examples....good wins at both grounds helped certainly.....good natured banter with no ugliness towards the home fans....more of the same for home games please!

Logically this would lift the team, going to home games and we're very quiet...that's when the occassion d**khead can get his/her voice heard and others (unfortunately) join in and compound the players misery.
I'm an East Stander and we tend to be led by the North Bank....otherwise it's like being in a library.

I'm also a fan of decent segregation....this means you tend to let the away fans to do their thing, rather than spend half the game goading them, rather than supporting the Blues which is what we're about...surely?

McNasty, Onion Bag Dave....do you think the club would consider moving North Bank home support towards the East Stand, or would that cause more issues?

On your last point yes the club are interested but it's the funds they will need from us as fans around 2k I have been quoted to make sure of it and for me it will make things so much better!

Harry, moving has been discussed and TrueBlue said a figure of £2000 was mentioned to move gates for entry segregation but that was as far as it got unless further discussions have taken place.

Scott if you want somebody to come of this forum and offer positive ideas towards helping TBV, then here I am. Feel free to pm me and if you want to meet then that's fine with me.
This post is not a dig at anybody or any group but just trying to be helpful.

However, I do think TBV tend to enjoy representing themselves rather than supporting Southend United. One or two senior members are in it for the kudos and worship from the younger children.

Ahahahahahaha

I personally feel the North bank dream is over! Its one of the main reason I try my upmost to avoid home games now.

As a couple of the guys said in the pub after the game about why they started the Straker chant as it was to prove a point about how many kids/sheep there are in the NB............

Again personally I think TBV needs to have a big re think over the summer and come back into 13/14 season on a much better note.

Lastly what really bugs me is how many of you lot finger point at the TBV on here about any poor atmos home or away.
TBV is built up from a small handful of fans yet now days only 1 of them goes week in week out and its certainly not easy to "control" a crowd with a handful of fans yet a lone single handed.
I feel people need to take count for themselves before judging others as after all TBV is every Southend fan

The Trust has already helped The Blue Voice financially several times....think new drum, banner, badges....and more I believe. I'm not sure how much sympathy there would be towards providing them with more funds when clearly their main purpose seems to have been forgotten or too much for Scott on his own. I thought they were planning to do their own fund-raising anyway not so long ago?
