SUFC: The Future SUFC up for sale

Our hopes and visions for the rebirth of Southend United, plus any plans published by the consortium for discussion

Given the terms of sale published I believe 17th July, I was under the impression by the wording that the expectation was that any new buyer had to pay the listed HMRC debit as part of RM 'preferred' deal as he included it as part of the immediate debts to clear, anyone else concur? If that is his thought process then 10 points deduction is a reality!

So we can try to compete . Cant be great for buyers though as I suspect there wont be a rush at this point to the merchandise, season tickets, wonder how many will turn up as well. Maybe it should prompt the buyers to be a little more forthcoming if they expect a lot more support going forward
Let not here to much about they cant say anything?

There is a danger that 23rd Aug becomes a new deadline- it’s very important the consortium don’t see it that way. And relying on Ron to pay bills even to 23rd is a big risk…

In all this the players need consideration. The embargo situation has stopped us playing trialists, and our 14 contracted players, further disrupted by injuries (Lomas and Mooney not seen at all), have had an interrupted pre season, with limited friendlies and where minutes played by individual players has far exceeded the normal build up of minutes.

This has not only likely led to more niggles in pre- season, but also means our under cooked squad is placed at greater likelihood of injury once the season starts, with little or no cover, and the inability to bring anyone in except those who will accept non contract terms.

We need to be able to bring at least two or three bodies in pre Oldham.

It’s unfortunate, if perhaps understandable, that the embargo rules are at odds with best looking after the players we have. Is it possible to believe we are still in internal meetings about a bid stage? I don’t think so. Hopefully an offer is in - let’s have it done by 1st.

Meantime the football department deserves a medal…

Let’s hope the complete silence and non communication is because the bid is in, and it’s squeaky bum time…rather than they’re all on holiday!!!

Players like Bridge also deserve a medal for their loyalty, he could have walked easily and found another club.
Will Bridge and Ralph be able to play against Oldham? Did we get dispensation to offer them new contract/take up contract option? Really an embargo shouldn’t stop existing players getting new contracts IMHO- certainly not taking up options in existing contract. Why should they be punished. Completely understand re bring new players in.
