We will still hold their registration. I suppose whether they play would be up to them - they may not want to risk injury if they want to keep their options open.

Will be very interesting to see who plays tomorrow.
Not sure you are right or come to that wrong on the point about being registered. Players out of contract and who haven’t signed new terms for instance probably won’t be registered certainly not as contract players and bearing in mind that non contract players are usually “ playing for enjoyment ( a term applied to non contract players ) .

Playing in a friendly is one thing but allowing actually signing registration forms are a whole different kettle of fish

Bridge and Ralph out of contract so guess they are not unless they become non contract players
We will hold their registration (that would only change if they signed elsewhere). So whilst out of contract still registered. The question was we had to have minimum 16 registered players as of tomorrow? We would have the 14 contracted players plus I contracted players whose registration we still hold- I.e. Bridge, Ralph and JD came to mind. Probably one or two others.

Fair enough, But if they dont have a contract those players may not want to play and you cant blame them

901 pages of this so far - what’s the odds we get over 1000 before the success / failure of this rescue mission is complete?

True but trialists are in the same boat. And they know they have offers, just can’t sign yet. Up to them of course but suspect they will play although wouldn’t blame them if they didn’t

Don’t think we are allowed triallists someone mentioned that a while ago

From what I’ve heard bridge has offers elsewhere (one from a L2team) but is holding on in hope for us. If I were him i. Am not sure I would ply on a non contract basis which has far different terms to a contracted player, salary and insurance wise i am led to believe

It gets very complex but but the embargo makes this even more difficult to navigate.
Players turning out in a PSF don’t have to be registered but the embargo kicks in when it comes to offering players terms.
Players under contract can effectively walk any time they want and whilst yes they can be paid but technically only expenses and if those expenses are In round sum terms such a £150 then those payments are subjected to PAYE &NIC .
As for insurance there wouldn’t be any issue ( that is if the club’s insurance is up to date )
If however this goes on into late August it will become even more complex

Just noticed on a BBC story about Newport extending their lease on Rodney Parade "the Football League will require clubs to have a 10- year lease on home grounds from 2025-26".

As I say gets real complex for instance a contracted player wanting to become a non contract player at the same club has to re register

6.1.2
In the event of a Player changing his status with the same Club either from Contract to Non-Contract or from Non-Contract to Contract then that Player must sign a new registration form (which is to be retained by the Club) complete a new registration process via the Online Player Registration System, and be re- registered.
