But this makes no sense!

He could have walked away, with 27.2M (Fact) 2 months ago for ALL THE LAND the club and SE owns, the club and everything else! But chose not too!

Simple fact, is! He doesn’t want to sell!

Put yourself in Ron's shoes & Ron's mind (delusion included):

1) You sell everything now and walk away with £27.2 million... Good profit, but not great compared to what it could be...

2) You wait it out and sell the club only for £1+Debt, but keep the land and profit £500mil+ from housing...

or 3) You wait all of the **** out, let the club go -10 points, let the AF, JD & The Trust convince the council to force the stadium to become a public asset and get paid out through government grants. Profit from the stadium, profit from FF...?

Do you really think he'll get £500m plus profit?

Would be nowhere near that would it. Crude example of 2000 units at 200k would be 400m, then minus the building costs and the fact he is partnered on the project; don’t think we know the split on this. Then on top of that you have to take out 40m to build the stadium, of which he will probably hope to get 15-20m back for in return.

I would be surprised if Ron came out of this with much more over 120m when all is said and done.

He’s probably said he’s selling up to appease his wife, knowing he can probably claw on to the project for long enough that he’ll meet the next milestone and be able to unlock further investment on the project.

Don't forget it's not just Ron's deal. There are investors, the Council have a slice etc.

Not saying whether these numbers are accurate or not- but it does a good job of exposing why he would walk away from a £27m offer. If you own all the land for a say £300-400m development across two sites, and someone offers £27m, you might be somewhat reluctant to bite their arm off.

This normally gets overlooked. There is a joint developer the Dellals. Is the actually a contract yet with SCC? Even if not I think there is/ was some sort of agreement in principle?

Agreed.

You cannot underestimate him. Ron knows exactly what he’s doing, I’m surprised more fans can’t see it.

He’s stalling the debt payments for as long as legally possible, in the hope that a new owner will take them on.

If it comes down to the wire, he’ll find the money from one of his off shore accounts and pay it off.

It’s the art of negotiation. Ron can’t afford to look weak. He’s putting on a front that everything is ok, and if a buyer wants to take the club on, they can, but they’ll have to do so at Ron’s asking price. Obviously that metaphorical game of chicken isn’t good for the club, the employees, the management, the players, nor us, the fans, but it’s how Ron has engineered it.

It makes no sense for him to allow the club to suffer penalties either, as this devalues his product, giving a buyer more negotiation room.

If he had decided to throw in the towel, he could have done it multiple times by now. He is absolutely intent on selling the club, but not without making sure he earns what he thinks he deserves. So until that happens, he will continue to drip feed the club, which means we stay on life support.

There’s no doubt, he’s a ****. But he’s not a stupid ****.

Great post GBJ. It seems to me that the 10 points and court dates have done us no favours with the sale. Both sides need to show they will allow it to happen if need be to get their deal.

To put it simple Ron can't show he needs the deal before the 23rd and the buyer can't show they will buy rather than have a 10 point deduction.
