That’s why Vegas invented pool parties and bottomless cocktails, to keep you hydrated.
From what I hear, the Oakland A’s isn’t a done deal yet and is still only a 50/50 shot, despite their proposal to take over the old Tropicana and build a ballpark in its place.
The F1 may not be a staple for years to come either. Firstly, the traffic situation it’s caused resurfacing roads (incl. The Strip) has ****ed off the locals no end, but most importantly, they’ve essentially F1 have held the casinos to ransom and demanded that they pay hidden fees, or face having massive gantry’s and temporary seating areas put up in front of the casinos to block the view of the track.
This has gone down about as well as you’d expect. Casino execs aren’t used to being on the receiving end of a fleecing.
Vegas has been trying to acquire an MLS franchise for years. There was talk of the Brazilian team Flamengo being involved/branching out, which was well supported by the Mayor, Carolyn Goodman, but nothing seemed to materialise.
The Lights pull in a steady crowd of a few thousand people, but it’s not a fanatic fanbase, (nothing like the VGK, who are treated like royalty out there by their fans.) They do have the craziest promotions though, including mass water balloon fights on the pitch at HT, and another where they hover a helicopter over the centre circle and drop thousands of dollars onto the pitch for fans to scramble for.
Vegas is still a young pup when it comes to being a sporting City, but it’s certainly on the rise.
Yeah, again plans have been in place to bring a franchise to Vegas for a while. There are plans to build some monster sporting arena/resort just off the strip called the All-Net arena, but locals doubt this will actually ever happen.
Anyway, this is off topic as ****, but seeing as there’s not much happening in the way of an actual sale with our club…
