Student Protests - November 2011

What utter rubbish Rusty , you've just theorised based on figures.
Amusingly contradicting the spirit of C's post . Eductation allows you to operate in the world , but it is the experience , what your talking about comes from when you did it , when the world was cheaper . There are plenty of people who work in the "black" economy or just above minimum wage who work more teh 40 hours a week and never make it into this ideal you have .

You seem to have little idea of the "real world" then those you criticise .

How on earth would you know? I work in the 'real world', I don't sit at home playing Dungeons & Dragons. I'm aware of what things cost because I provide for a family, children. There was no minimum wage when I entered the workforce, I earned £1.60 an hour in my first job in 1987. And I managed just fine. You just want more hand outs - you think that 'rich people' are this never ending source of free money for loafers and layabouts.

If your worried go and tell your lefty mates to **** off home and get back to work

Do you really want European or US style policing? Our police are another great part of Britain, something to be proud of. Seemed to do have done a top notch job today.

Again generalised rubbish , based on ill informed and biased opinion . The issue you have is your justify what you have done and project it on others , even if it was wrong , idiotic and utter pointless . Yes well done people screwed you over years ago , you followed the rules and you can only justify the nonsense by complaining about people who won;t put up with idiots and morons by complaning about them

Well done Rusty you got shafted .

Some people really need to think further than 'what seems like the right wing perspective on this' and then spouting that. I don't know people of any political persuasion that would genuinely suggest that all students should ignore a university education and be happy taking any minimal wage job that would have then. Its the least inventive kind of WUM that would promote this lack of ambition. Would you really want our youth to be so weak that they accept £30k worth of fees when a few years ago they would have been encouraged to study with subsitance grants. Unbelievable that someone would suggest they put up and shut up - what kind of sheep do you take this nation for? The fact that others have agreed shows that sheep mentality is already in abundance. Yes if we all accept minimum wage jobs we can have lovely clean hospitals, but with no doctors to treat the patients. Investing in people - not really a stupid idea if you can get over the fact that the people pointing that out are teenagers and a bit scruffy and over excited and over fond of poetry. The future doctor who is standing up for his / her education today will be the one I want fighting to get me a bed in an overcrowded hospital in the future.

The future Doctor probably isn't on the protest. I'm fully in favour of people who want to be a Doctor for example, studying, butI can't understand the ones who study a subject that will have no practical bearing on their career. Does having a degree make them clever? No of course not - it means they have spent more time learning, and lets face it, a lot of these people go to uni so they can get a higher paid job in the future which means they will have the means to repay the fees.
A bloke who wants a bigger house has to borrow more money and pay a higher mortgage, so why shouldnt a bloke who wants a better education pay something extra towards it? From reading this thread its quite clear plenty of zoners have managed to make a success of their lives by starting at the bottom and working their way up. I wolud guess most of the protesters are part of the "I am entitled to something for nothing brigade as long as other people will pay for it."

The future Doctor probably isn't on the protest.

And you know this how? Even a future doctor will be left with astronomical debts at the end of their studies - and perhaps that 18yr old who would have trained and saved lives won't bother now.

I guessed. Can you define astronomical debts and also the time scale they have to repay them and at what interest rate.

I'm suggesting that most students are wasting their time and their parents' money, and those are the ones who should be getting off their arse and getting into the employment market. If that was the case, then future doctors, engineers, lawyers etc wouldn't have to pay astronomical fees, as we could subsidize the education of a few who genuinely deserve it.

It also amuses me no end that A.S.S. thinks that steveo, C and I are 'sheep' following the herd, when we are the brave souls who reject the liberal consensus propagated by the BBC and most of the media. Any right of centre newspaper is vilified by the chattering classes whilst their own propaganda sheets are held up as arbiters of truth. We are the poor saps who fund the indolent left, and we are truly sick of it.

Nobody screwed me over, I got paid what I was worth as a sixteen year old with no skills or experience. I'm not complaining - I was given the chance to succeed and I have. The only shafting to which I object is that which I receive on a daily basis from the tax man in supporting loafers like you.

Odd way of not complaining you do regarding your opinions and the way they are structured . Funnily enough I've worked since i was 16 , aside from the gap i had recently (even then its only been a month since my last job finished ) I sadly for you don;t fit into your rather ill informed criteria .

Your idea that there is a few who deserve education is born completely of ignorance , you have no way (and no one does ) of knowing the capacity or ability of a child to become whatever profession they may be proficient at until they are in the educational system . You have stated before your not in education, yet like many issues you comment on speak from some faux authority based on personal experience (not always in the area) reinforced by some natural superiority of an ideology you follow .

Your arguments amount to , "I said it , its true" . As for a liberal conspiracy , those who defer their lack of understanding or knowledge to invisible unknown's are generally in need of medical assistance.

So are you suggesting that we bankroll every child in the land on the off chance that they become a genius at some point?

And I really can't believe that such an intellectual colossus as your good self has been out of work for a month. Surely some village needs an idiot?

No , we ignore these idiocies that the children are a product to be bankrolled and learn to see education as the long term savings bond it is . Einstein sums it up best “Everybody is a genius. But if you judge a fish by its ability to climb a tree, it will live its whole life believing that it is stupid.” . Context , suitability to your environment . You seem to be confusing the idea of genius with that of a polymath .

Village idiots are still 10 steps up the evolutionary ladder then the republicans :P
