Did I see that Warsaw are due to play on Tuesday as well?

Their nick-name is "The Saddlers". I'm hoping they mount up on Saturday evening with their saddle bags completely empty. Walk on.

The Moose played for them as did Demi of course.

When we wore the purple polio shirt that was against Walsall in 2010. The scheduled match in January was called off due to the ice and snow and in the re-arranged game the Moose scored 2 and Scott Spencer 1 in a 3-0 win.

Sheffield United, Oxford, Bradford & Newport games off already along with the already mentioned Gillingham game and loads of non-league.

The temperatures even on Saturday will be barely enough to melt much of the existing snow or thaw out the pitch. Almost certainly going to be called off along with loads of other games.

Apparently there could be bad weather over the bank holiday weekend at the end of the month. Better call them games off now just in case.

Would obviously love it to go ahead but there’s no point risking it for the sake of risking it and it may be best for all involved if it was postponed. If it is, as others have said, I just hope the club don’t leave it too late to announce it.

I see the club asking fans to be at the club 8am tomorrow to help clear the pitch. Will be interesting to see if anyone turns up. Free season ticket for next season would be a nice incentive:smile:

Personally, I would have the game called off.

It's not about the pitch, but about safe access to the ground and parking around the area, as well. I'll take a wild stab that the car park won't have been treated. It's dangerous enough underfoot in the summer there, let alone now.

There's still plenty of opportunity to re-schedule the game. Even to say Wednesday next week. It's not like there's a huge backlog of fixtures to fulfill.

To an extent, a good sensible move by the club, they obviously want it to go ahead, but given the volunteers call up at 8am, i would imagine the club staff would start around 7am.

Enough time for the referee to make a call by 10am ......11am very latest.

That option, works best for both clubs and their supporters...... I think the majority of the few Walsall fans that would have set off in their own transport would still be at home at 10am, & those on the coach wouldn't be far from their town by that time, if it was called off.

Out of respect, I hope we treat them with better respect than other clubs have done to us on long away journeys, and announce it before 11am or Noon.

Who decides whether there is
safe access to the ground and parking around the area
is the individual, if they decide it is unsafe then they shouldn't go. I like to make that decision for myself and not get it imposed on me. My main concern is they make the decision early enough for the visitors not to make a wasted journey.

If the game was to go ahead I do hope that the club ensure that the car park and other access areas are gritted and salted. I remember an evening game a few seasons ago, I think v Scunthorpe, when the car park was like an ice rink, really dangerous.

Walsall are at home to Rochdale next Tuesday. Bit unfair to rearrange the game so quick if it is called off anyway.

Good point on next week's match that Walsall have. I hadn't checked, in truth, but my main point was that there's plenty of gaps to play it another time.

If Walsall had three international players and it was an international weekend there wouldn't be a match played anyway.

Just don't see the urgency to get the game played in these conditions.

If it does get called of the available realistic dates for both clubs are Tues 10th April, Tues 17th April and Tuesday 1st May.

I'm in two minds. If there's any chance of the game being on then great, if fan's are needed to clear the pitch and the game goes ahead, fantastic.

On on the other hand, tomorrow's weather doesn't look great, and even if it is 3 or 4 degrees on Saturday, if the pitch is frozen, it's unluckily to thaw in time.

On balance, I think the club is right to keep the game on as of now. Let's see how the weather pans out tomorrow first.

Tuesday 10th April. Would be the worst, what with the good Friday game then Easter Monday match, followed by the Saturday game, would mean 4 matches in 11 days. It might be a bridge to far for our squad.

Tuesday 17th April. Would work best for our club & our fans. imo. Spring is in the air, and the kids are at school.

Tuesday 1st May. (also a Bad idea) It's a little too late then for nervous a run in. or A relegation push. More so, if we get more games postponed.

All being said, when did we ever make it easy!!

UTB
