After the recent disappointment we've had with postponements at Rochdale and Oldham, it's only right we call this off now to save travelling away fans a journey which as we know is a ball buster when you travel only to be called off. It's also sensible for us home supporters, with more snow forecast rest of the day and tomorrow the surrounding area will be a nightmare. It's disappointing, two weeks without football but it's the right call to make.

Not that I am going to, but if I turned up tomorrow to help clear the snow and found the rotund fella titting around with his shovel as he does on match days he would cop an unfortunate one around the lug'oles with with my shovel.

Gillingham have already called off Saturdays game. Roots Hall must be in a similar state to Priestfield.

They'd have the whole of the away stand to clear of snow as well due to lack of roof. I think it's sensible enough to see what can be done tomorrow & reassess then before making a decision.

How deep is the snow in the car park? Even if the pitch were to be playable it will be a nightmare trying to get to the game.

They should do what Gillingham have done and call it off today or by midday tomorrow at the latest.

Just to say that Shakespeare Drive and the Entry to the West Stand were in a very dangerous state this morning with the fresh snow many cars were unable to make the top of the road and the pavements were at best dangerous to walk on

Although I have not had the chance to have a look I can only presume that the car park at Roots Hall is just as bad the surface is not the best on a good day

Clearing the pitch may well be possible but the surrounding area may well be the major problem we face in getting the game on

I do appreciate your humour e for b, but in the rotund blokes defence, I believe he is somewhat special needs and is certainly doing his best and loves being involved with the groundstaff.

If the snow is cleared from the pitch maybe it could all be shoveled into the North Bank. It's not as if there will be many Walsall supporters down and we could always move them into the South Stand Lower.

Then watch the east stand get bombarded with snowballs for 90 minutes.

Oh FFS everyone, what is it with this namby pamby health and safety rubbish.

According to my BBC forecast we might get a little dusting of snow on Friday evening (50% chance)

The temperature on Saturday is 3 degrees, and any snow on paths/roads/carparks will be almost 4 days old and on the way out. Its also March, and the sunset wont be until well after the game has finished, so getting away from the ground will be OK.

Lets all sit at home in out little cotton wool bubbles just in case someone might might slip over.

The club have some sense in waiting until Saturday morning now to clear the pitch due to the expected flurry on Friday night.

Unless the forecast changes, there should be nothing to stop this game going ahead. (assuming the pitch is OK under the covers)

Sadly, it's the litigation culture of current times.

So it's a tenner then?

Sounds like the club are going to have a go at still trying to make the game go ahead on Saturday morning, as they have changed the time for volunteers to show up at 8.00am instead of the original time of 09.30am.

I see on Twitter that the club have changed the time for volunteers to show up from 09.30am to 08.00am, so i guess they will still try to get the game going on the day, with an announcement probably around 10am.

I really want to go Saturday and I'll be fine walking. It's my mum's birthday however and she is not mobile, she has trouble walking at the best of times. If she struggles, never mind actually hurts herself, i'll be sad for her and annoyed. It's all well and good going on about health and safety and 'it was better in my day' but if she or anyone else hurts themselves that's actually serious. Fine, she doesn't have to go, no one does, but do you really want a 1/3 full stadium just so you can play at being the big man?

We all have our own attitude to risk and we all see what is essentially the same situation and make different assessments.

I can see the sense in not having people risk falling and getting hurt on tricky pavements etcetera but I can also see that football is not just a fair weather game - part of it's delight is getting to see games in different weathers; from the heat of August (sometimes :smiles:) through to wet rainy games and then the chill of winter.

I feel the odds are stacked against the game going ahead because where there is doubt then various decision makers will err on the side of caution. Personally I've got my fingers crossed that it will go ahead.
