Very good point, they need this win to save their season, not just for 3 points but for the desperate confidence to gain further results.

If they lose this derby game then the fans will get further on their backs and confidence will plummet and is probably a wrap for their season. Massive pressure on " their" shoulders which we need to use to our advantage and if we do score early then their young squad will panic.

Just hope Brown/Barrett gets them all fired up for this and the players don't go out there expecting to win.

Massive game for so many reasons, the only fact we can conclude with at this stage, their fans and Cowley will be bricking it!!!

Cowley is not bothered he is the Braintree manager...........

Bolger. Barrett. Thompson
o'neill. Hendrie
leonard
atkinson. Mcqueen
barnett. Loza

I think it's a bit complacent going into the game without a 'keeper! Hard to drop Payne too. I think it's either back to the XI who started against Coventry, or Kamara will play in the DM role.

I would go with:

Bentley

O'Neill Bolger Barrett Thompson Hendrie

Deegan

Atkinson Leonard

Payne

Barnett

Subs: T.Smith, Kamara, Worrall, McQueen, Hunt, Loza, Mooney

Why? We have done that all season!

Yeah this is the way forward, would like to see Kamara for Deegan just to get a look at him but I'm sure PB knows a lot better who should play between those two and i'm happy with either.

What's the new one like CAP? I didn't think Parrish was that bad against us. Any news on whether Eastman will be fit to play tomorrow, if not who will play at centre back - hopefully Elokobi - would like to see him practice his Cruyff turn again!

We all want Elokobi to play!

I don't think the new guy is that great personally it might even be Parrish who plays instead. Jake is a big lad (6 feet 5 inches) so should be a bit better at dominating his penalty area but that's about it. Eastman was said to be back in training so I would think he might play alongside Frankie Kent who is the player who came on against Spurs, he is a decent young player (age 20) but has only played around 20 games for us so far and looks a bit lightweight for that position. If not it will be Matt Briggs who is really a left back but impressed as an emergency centre half against Spurs. George might play if fit but he has been struggling with injury so may just be on the bench.

Ha ha he is a lovely guy but was never the greatest footballer, the Cruyff turn is certainly off for tomorrow if he plays, but he does do a mean body slam, that should keep Hunt out for the rest of the season!

Is that the same Hunt that outmuscled "big George" for our second goal on Boxing Day?

I'm predicting a frustrating draw in a match marred by inclement weather, crowd trouble, poor refereeing, ticketing chaos and travel disruption (think that's covered everything). Have a sneaky hunch that their keeper may 'throw one in' for us.

.....forgot to mention flares too!

Liking these stats ahead of tomorrow ;

Colchester last kept a clean sheet away from home 22 games ago.

The last 20 Colchester away matches have produced an average of 3.85 goals per game.

In their last 20 away matches against teams positioned in the top half of the table, Colchester have scored 1.2 goals per game and conceded 2.9 goals per game on average.

................................BENTLEY.........................
O'NEILL..........THOMPSON.....BARRETT......HENDRIE
...............................KAMARA...........................
.......LEONARD.............MCQUEEN............ATKINSON
......................HUNT...............BARNETT..............

LOZA , MOONEY , PAYNE , WORRALL , SMITH , BOLGER , DEEGAN

When we are playing at home against a team who are hapless in defence + bereft of confidence we dont need to play 5 at the back. Hopefully Hunt will be fighting fit to forge a potent strike force with Barnett , otherwise Loza to start.

.......... floodlight failure?

Isn't a key feature of the "5 at the back" formation that we don't have "5 at the back" when we are attacking?
