Based on Tuesdays performance he isn't eve close to justifying a starting place, Barnett looks different class at the moment, a shame because a fit on form Hunt is quality but we have to play whoever is on form. Loza is also ahead of him in my book, he scared them to death when he came on, looks to be stronger than before, can see him doing very well if given a chance. Sam McQueen could come in for Timlin, really like the look of him, fast and strong with a good footballing brain.

Reading some of those comments you have to wonder what planet Colchester fans are on when they bad-mouth Cowling. He's been an absolute dream for that club, putting in money every year, building them a new stadium and training complex and basically he's allowed them to compete at a level that by rights should be beyond them. They have overachieved for years, and most of that is down to Cowling. Can't believe the stick he gets.

The new stadium is down to his predecessor Peter Heard. The club was in the Championship when he took over, and has currently been at L1 or above for 18 years.

Agree with the top 2/3rds of the post ........ for me it is too soon to say whether McQueen would be a better choice than Deegan or another midfielder.

WHCS is owned by Colchester Borough Council............

Yeah that's a toughy one.
If Noel is on the bench (and even 75% fit) if he comes on in the latter stages of the game, he wont have the same effect in terms of pace that Loza would have against tired legs. So I guess I would rather him start and then see how the game progresses.
That being said, if we want to come out of the blocks with all guns firing, then maybe Loza, Barnett, Mcqueen, Hendrie and Payne should all be in the starting line up, and then if things go our way, with a goal cushion or two, then perhaps the subs being bought in as replacements to steady the ship so to speak could be Hunt and Deegan etc.

CaP and NEWS, don't forget to give us a wave on Saturday. We'll be the ones in Southend colours, you can't miss us.

I can't believe how soft SZ has gone, a few days before the match and we aren't crucifying the sheep worrying muppet, why is everyone being so friendly, maybe we should invite Putin and Kim Jong Un into the shrimpers bar and give them a seat in the directors box......shape up people and shun the wool loving one .....:winking:
why is that soft?... Just asking for his location..... My previous twelved toe reference is hardly welcoming... I hope we beat them out of sight on Saturday, but in my forty years of going it has made me realise one thing, it's that we never do things easily, and more than likely make it difficult for ourselves , gloating has a nasty habit of biting us in the rear end .....

Loza feeding Barnett is the way to go........... but I agree that it might be better to bring Jamar on after 60 minutes against tired defenders.

What is the "special" beer available on Saturday? AND how many barrels will be available? Will it last so there is a chance of a pint after the game too? Will there be any extra staff to serve the thirsty hoards?

Or will the beer run out by 2.30pm, be a rubbish pint and the bar space be taken up by the malibu, lager and orange juicers with only £20 notes, all wanting to be served by two staff who are busy washing glasses?:'(

We do know this is all going to end horribly, don't we!

Very good point, they need this win to save their season, not just for 3 points but for the desperate confidence to gain further results.

If they lose this derby game then the fans will get further on their backs and confidence will plummet and is probably a wrap for their season. Massive pressure on " their" shoulders which we need to use to our advantage and if we do score early then their young squad will panic.

Just hope Brown/Barrett gets them all fired up for this and the players don't go out there expecting to win.

Massive game for so many reasons, the only fact we can conclude with at this stage, their fans and Cowley will be bricking it!!!

Agreed, a very big game for both sides.

With Millwall playing away at Walsall, a win will put us in the play-offs!

All I will say is that if players like Barnett, Payne & Loza can't destroy a team that's already conceded 65 goals we don't deserve to get into the playoffs, no excuses acceptable.
