I feel like if it was me picking the team I'd drop Lenny... And start Yearwood and tims

But we despratly need another midfielder

hurts me and the team to say it but i think u r right. His commnents in the echo were just that, paper talk. He doesnt want to be here and although he says he will give his all, i doubt it. If tomorrow he plays and gives the standard Lenny performance then i will eat my words etc but hard to see it. Need another CM and quickly!

A difficult team selection. Do we go with experience and is Kiernan fit enough against the promotion favourites.
People seem to be underestimating the strength Blackburn will bring to the Hall. If we look good wow for the season.
Dru for Tims and two wingers well if you call Kights that.
Mc Glasshen on wing but he is not the best tracking back.
Knowing Tango will pit experience in Anton is a example I think he will go for Kiernen and Timlin and Mc Laughlin.
Lenny our best player well a no brainer how can we leave him out.

Oxley
Demitrou Ferdinand Kiernan Hendrie
Kightly Leonard Timlin Mc Laughlin
Cox Fortune

Subs T Smith. J White. Kyprianu. Yearwood. Ba. Robinson. Mc Glashen

For me it would be:

Oxley
Demetriou, Kiernan, Ferdinand, Hendrie
Kightly, Leonard, Yearwood, McLaughlin
Cox, Fortune

Timlin might have more experience than Yearwood, but the young lad has been mustard in pre-season. If we're going to have competition for places then you have to reward good performances, regardless of age. If you're good enough, you're old enough.

Bang on.

My team too.

Yearwood is a class act who can drive with the ball and create a pass from nothing. My worry is his experience and positioning. If I was an opposition player id be looking to test his temperament. That said Timlin is never far from a red card.

Can't wait for tomorrow, what a game to kick start the new season!

Oxley
Demi Ferdinand Kiernan Hendrie
Kightly Leonard Yearwood McLaughlin
Cox MAF

Smith, White, Kyprianu, Timlin, McGlashan, Robinson, Ba

Tough game to predict, going to let my heart rule over my head and say 2-1 to the blues, Cox and Kightly with the goals!

Oxley
JD Ferdinand Kiernan Hendrie
Kightly Leonard Yearwood McGlaughlin
Cox MAF

Bench: Smith, White, Kyp, Timlin, McGlashan, Robinson, AAAA MAAAA DOU DOU DOU

Oxley
Demi White Anton Hendrie
Kightly Lenny Timlin Macca
Cox MAF

Subs: Smith, Matsuzaka, Kiernan, Yearwood, McGlashan, Robinson, Ba

Wouldn't risk Kiernan only having trained once and think Timlins experience will help against a strong Blackburn team.

Only about 150 non family stand home tickets left. They could still open part of X block and still have enough segregation with the large away support.

I am genuinely so looking forward to this, my heart says 2-0 to Southend, but in reality I think we have been really unlucky with injuries and the lack of signings may hit us extremely hard yet again for the start of the season... I just hope we don't all start falling down the suicidal route of you we do get beat tomorrow

Nope - you've lost me there.

Tony Mowbray knows that Rovers will have to be up for the fight when they get their season underway at Southend United this Saturday.
Rovers have been handed a tricky away trip for their League One opener, against a side managed by experienced campaigner Phil Brown.
However the Rovers boss believes it is a game that his side should look forward to, and they travel to Roots Hall with the intention of getting their season off to a positive start.

"Saturday will be a tough game," he said. "They've got a very experienced manager in Phil Brown, it is a tight little pitch, tight dressing rooms, it will be a 'welcome to League One' for some of the players.
"I've got full respect for Southend for the way they go about what they do. I think it will be a tough test because Phil will have them really well organised and have a game plan. I hope that we can go there and our quality can get us the points on the day.
"We are going and expecting a tough game, they've got quite an experienced team and good footballers.
"We expect ourselves to go there and perform and find a performance that can hopefully get the points.
"It is a game that we should embrace and look forward to. Whilst we intend to start the season strongly and try to win football matches, I think it is an important message to say that you don't win promotion or miss out on promotion in the first month of the season.
"There are plenty of examples of teams coming really strongly once they've bedded in. An example would be Barnsley a few years ago in this division. They were rock bottom in November-December and actually got up to the play-offs because they hit so much form after Christmas. So lets see how we go."

Go back nine years and Nicky Bailey was our best player on opening day despite wanting out. When the whistle blows I don't think guys who have the makeup to be successful midfield generals can phone it in. It isn't in their nature. Leonard is ten times the Pro that Bailey was.

ALARM!!! I see Blackburn have just signed Harry Chapman on loan from Middlesborough.Anyone who saw our 3-4 home Youth Cup defeat 2014-15 to Boro will remember his sensational 2-goal performance that night .He says he's looking forward to his first game tomorrow....

Well Mowbray is not wrong. And it's a message that any manager could say to his team and their fans. The first few games are always more unpredictable because so many players in the team have yet to play together competitively.

And whilst the league may not be won in August we have just had the experience to recognise that those points gained in August can be very valuable come April 2018.

Love 1st day of the season. Although it's a bummer I'm doing night shift tonight...curtailing sleep to get to Shakespeare drive to meet the gang for 2 30.....come on you blues

Buzzing for the game, and the season. I can't believe we're playing a team that won a Premier League title in a competitive league match... Baffles me!

My manager finally agreed to me finishing at 12pm on Saturdays so I can get a season ticket. After that I was straight on the phone to the ticket office. COYB!
