Post-Match Thread and Ratings Southend United 4-0 Ebbsfleet

Well it was lovely to see a convincing home win, even if it was against a very poor Ebbsfleet side. Cav was looking like his old self again and had a good game. Noor played better too. Bridge is still a good player and worked hard. He just needs someone to support him in the way Wes used to. Noor done it a couple of times yesterday and it worked well. Golding looked solid and composed, hope we can keep him a bit longer. Pepple and Kendall look an exciting duo up top,and both had a great game. Icing on the cake was Gus finding the net again. All round positive performance from everyone, and a much needed three points. UTB

No.
It might suit an agenda but is not correct.
And yes he did "lose it" and yes it was a very over the top reaction, and yes DC was bemused by it.
If Kev is angry it may be because the players needed telling and telling again to step forward and this shows in how we were better down our right in the first half and then better in the 2nd half ( notably JB and Noor) in the 2nd on our left when the almost David Webb growling from the sidelines got those sides of the team focused.
As somebody else has already said, you have this wrong. I sit right down there and Kev was livid all afternoon after the second goal due to comments made about negative tactics. I was a bit embarrassed for him to be honest as he still hadn’t calmed down after the fourth.

Surely it’s the fans who should be embarrassed when we are winning but they’re STILL moaning.

In a way Im glad how passionate he is about it, although may have to reign it in a bit or it will just grow and then he will look more defensive if not a bit crazy ?

It was one or two idiots… out of 8000+. He’s been in the game long enough to not let it get to him. So angry not sure he was thinking straight. Odd
I do worry about him. Think the strain of last year is showing now. Same with some of the players

Is there no D1versity from yesterday? I missed 2 goals live, was hoping to see them. Also doesn't appear to be any official highlights yet. Possibly because the DAZN pictures were so bad?

No D1 as Pip had to work.

Just posted them @wivs on a separate thread.

We criticize others for their quality & most of this is pretty shocking

Golding reminded me of Kort . Far and away a better footballer than those around him. Albeit at 2 levels lower

Leon Cort? Not sure I see it personally, Cort was talented and got his head on the end of everything but was pretty raw and something of a headless chicken, particularly on the ball. Golding is far more composed on the ball and in general.

FWIW Cort was with us in L2, so one level above.

@OldBlueLady what about Tamika Mkandawire as a comp?

I've said this a few times that he has looked and sounded really tetchy of late. He took real exception to the interviewers comments a few weeks back after the Altrincham game when he questioned the players lack of fire in the belly. In commencing interviews Kev kept referencing it like he'd taken it really personally. The fact is, the fire in their bellies was abysmal.

On the whole, Kev hasn't taken criticism well at all. Of course, he will probably feel that it's ridiculous to receive it after everything he's done and been through. However, football is a cut throat business and he of all people should know that. Entertainment and results are what he is employed to do. That stat of 3 Saturday wins in 20 odd games is not acceptable, especially when COSU want more season ticket holders.

I'm really hoping for a bit of a run of good games and results with a few additions and everything will simmer down and go back to how it was at Roots Hall for the remainder of the season.

I like it. He obviously cares deeply about the club and his players. That fire is an asset. It was Stan who banged on the table and said that’s a manager I want to play for and now we can see why.

He's quite clearly a level above Gubbins & Crowther

Not sure. Jeacock looked a level above Collin when he made his debut. Fortunately(?) for him that was against Tamworth who offered as much attacking intent as Ebbsfleet did yesterday.

Since then, and against better opposition, he hasn’t looked much of an upgrade on Collin tbh.

I liked Golding yesterday, I thought he had plenty of composure and confidence. He seemed to read the game well & showed he was happy to drive us over the halfway line. Thing is, most of yesterday’s game was like an attack vs defence training drill, so it’s difficult to gauge just how good he is.

Let’s hope he continues that against tougher forward lines. Ebbsfleet simply had one of the worst we’ve ever seen at RH.

Probably because the loudness is directly proportional to the level of ignorance, and often clearly heard widely- if I had a mute button I would use it. Could someone sitting next to these muppets not ask them to wind the necks in? Peer pressure might be more effective- in their world upsetting the manager and/or players might be considered a proud achievement…
