Post-Match Thread and Ratings Southend United 4-0 Ebbsfleet

Good performance against a very poor team for sure . Goulding looked very tidy good on the ball and strong too . Kendall was lively for sure hopefully he get he’s goal soon .

Onto Braintree

Plenty of people in the match thread around 14:00, sporting a lovely shade of egg on their faces right now. Y’all know who you are 😂😂😂

I was expecting more from Ebbsfleet but they were terrible. The worst we’ve seen at RH all season. Probably the worst since Dover a few years ago tbh.

That being said we did what we needed to do. Pep will take the plaudits but I thought Miley was top drawer & Kendall ran himself into the ground. Same as in York, he should have scored, but hopefully potion.that’ll come.

If we’d scored 7/8 today, it wouldn’t have been unjust.

Weird atmosphere in the ground today though. Not a fan of W block and the NB being split.
People were hungry with no decent burgers on offer, singing was never an option.😉

I watched the game, not through rose coloured spectacles, but mist coated lens ( thanks DAZN/Southend cameraman)! We thought that the mist had descended on Roots Hall, but thankfully no. Both Kendall and Golding were up for it, the former chasing everything (and I mean everything) and winning challenges he had no right to make. In the opening half we had many chances and at 1-0 heading towards the break anything could happen to a side lacking in confidence. However a stunning second goal from Bim just before half time more or less settled it, I couldn’t see Ebbsfleet getting back into it. Second half continued and at 4-0 the main protagonists were taken off and the game more or less petered out. In addition to Bim, Kendall and Golding, I thought Cav was back to his best and Bridge and Hussin played better than of late. Hussin was unlucky twice in the 1st half and Bridge had a good long range effort. Hopefully this will do the confidence a world of good going in to the second half of the season.

Very happy with the win. Routine and brushed them aside with zero fuss. As for the opposition. The worst side I’ve ever seen come to the hall in a league game ever… by some distance too.

Echo most of what has been posted on here and even KM, who beat me in saying how important that second goal was just before half-time. Don't read anymore into our 4-0 victory today than I did into our 3-0 defeat last Saturday. Ship steadied, now onto Braintree. Difficult to make too many judgements when half the game was viewed through a fog. However it turned out to be 'Maidenhead II' and when the condensation cleared in the camera there were, sadly, no longer any goals to see. Our third and fourth were particularly difficult and I'm looking forward to seeing something clearer in the highlights (?) Golding and Kendall both showed great promise Miley, another step back to the Miley of old. Bim a complete handful and a brilliantly taken second goal for us.

Re: North Bank. Why are the club charging people to move season cards there? Ridiculous and would have put a lot off transferring over. Hence why it was full of mainly floating fans.

It should be free to move over and tickets need to go on sale much further in advance. Not being able to roam between West and North is a killer as well.

Needs a rethink, as the idea is to create an atmosphere, not house a load of daytrippers and a handful of loyals.
Spot on

I go back to Southend 7-0 Workington, March 68; Southend 5-0 Bradford PA, April '69; - but that might be stretching things for newer supporters.
Trust me, those two games was one-way traffic - and both the beaten got off lightly.

how would you feel if you had scored 2 great goals and clearly looking for the hat trick then your manager takes you off - yet again an example of poor management. Also from that moment the atmosphere ended.
Think it’s more of keeping players fresh for New Year’s Day and keeping other ticking over, not worth risking injuries over the Xmas period.

I said before the game that with Husin & Miley starting, it was a big game for them to show what they’re made of.

Husin was anonymous by and large but in a contradictory fashion he was “better”

Miley ran the game and showed his class, maybe we just have rushed him back and he’s finding his feet again!

Seen a bit of praise for Bridge but like Husin he seems to be a bit of a passenger. Clearly still good players but need something to bring it out of them?

Golding at the back was in my opinion what we’ve been lacking. Moves the ball forward with purpose and looked composed defensively. I’d like to see him extended for the season and see what happens!

The front two look like they’d played together for years, seemed to have a nice natural connection but more important, they both worked very hard!

It’s only Ebbsfleet as people seem keen to point out, but a professional and POSITIVE performance!

4 nil win....always welcome.
Have been waiting to see Golding...looks good.
Love the work rate up top from kendall absolute terrier of a lad, should have scored tbf.
One loss in seven.....

Another game in 6 days and worth getting Bonne and Walker some minutes to get a goal

No Moncur on the bench, I notice. Q. Injured, out of favour, or going back to Borient ?
I hope it is the latter, no disrespect to him but it just hasn't worked out with us - no idea of the terms of the deal so that may not even be an option.

...or at the time, a chance to get Bonne on the scoresheet, finally, and help Walker's confidence too?
Bonne will never score for this Club. His positioning is dire...he has zero pace and he has no understanding of what his strike partner is doing.
Great...he wins flick ons and puts himself about physically. That should be the bare minimum.
He is no striker however.
