For all the doom and gloom, we aren't that badly placed.

Just need to go on a bit of run now and make sure the final third of the season isn't repeated.

Everything was spot on. Great atmosphere, we played so well and we won.
We closed everything down, ran and chased, passed well, attacked well.
Lots of players had their best games that I've seen.
The ref bottled the red card and a blatant pen for us but we still won comfortably.
Brilliant game and day out, superb

Typical reaction. Have you not seen the results over the past nine months? Knee jerk? What a stupid post.

Edited for accuracy, but otherwise you are spot on. I can't abide the 'oh that'll really annoy those Victors and Victoria Brown outers that we won today' brigade, because it is total rubbish. I am bloody delighted we won today, just gutted I missed it because I really couldn't face it and let's be fair here the chances of me missing a good Southend performance based on the last nine months are roughly one in seven.

We all care desperately about the club and that is the reason we have been holding them all to task recently. I have seen two of the worst ever Southend performances I have ever had the misfortune to witness within the last 10-12 games (Wigan and Fleetwood) and that is extremely worrying as I was a regular through the eras of Martin, Little, Newman, Whelan and Wignall.

I am not unhappy we won today. I am over the moon, I care desperately about my club and I would be devastated to see it drop back into the division we worked so hard to get out of because of the negligence and mismanagement by one or two individuals.

Terrific result, I hope it carries on and if it does, I am more than happy for PB to stay, but it is just one game. What is great is the togetherness among the players, the praise on social media and by all accounts the atmosphere today. For a lot of those lads it is the first time they've experienced a win at Roots Hall and I hope it will leave them hungry for more. Let's all hope we've turned a corner.

Great performance, especially in the second half but in my opinion it's still early days and I don't think we've turned a corner, unless this is sustained.

I've seen enough games the last 12 months to know, things have not been great at the "Hall" However, seems to some fans on here that there's no place for being fully committed and supportive of the club we've followed and loved for most of our lives. Staying true through thick and thin, staying optimistic through the frustration. Certainly, I would never put down a true fellow fan who would take a contrary position to me. There are a million reasons for anyone not to support SUFC. However, only on reason to support them, "passion"

Agree with all that, the atmosphere kept the tempo high all game which suited us, but that was mainly due impart to the vocal millwall numbers which we matched to create that atmosphere. Whether the side can maintain that tempo against sides like Scunthorpe or Rochdale when they bring a fraction of the support is another matter.

I've been saying for ages that it's not the losing that was bothering me most it was the manner of defeats. Even had we lost yesterday I would have walked away satisfied by the teams effort.

We out worked millwall all over the pitch and the workrate was so impressive that confidence started to build after a shaky first 5 minutes in which we could have conceded.

I thought certain players had their best game in the shirt.

My mom was mooney yesterday who put in such a tremendous shift and got himself a goal. That is the mooney we hoped we would get we he signed.

Also a mention for Atkinson who must run on diesel as he was still running full pitch at 90 mins.

I've been critical of both the above , but yesterday they were brilliant.

I'm not sure that PB is the man for the job, but if the team keep showing that amount of effort win draw or lose then I will be a happy man.

The age old question has always been..should the crowd lift the players, or the players lift the crowd ? I think the answer is probably a bit of both, but yesterday it certainly was the players effort that woke Roots Hall up. I can accept defeat if they put a shift in like that each week. You'll probably find we'll win more than we lose if they work that hard, anyway. We've a long way to go, but well done to PB and the lads for the workrate alone !

Great performance today. Cocko didn't like the formation, thought it was too negative but when he visited the players in the dressing room before the game he asked them to give their all. The players did just that, for Cocko, not Brown.

Sorry, don't believe that in the slightest.

Absolutely spot on! What a brilliant performance and result that was. The fight and grit was back, and it was clear to see the team were hungry to get something out of the match. Also it's funny what happens when we actually pass it to Mooney's feet....one of our best players today.

Typical reaction. Have you not seen the results over the past six months? Knee jerk? What a stupid post. Fans are sick of lifeless effort from players, negative tactics and are merely voicing their displeasure. The fact that it isn't one or two but a large number suggests concensus. Why we support Southend? You're more than welcome to your opinion but I've been going 26 years home and away and I know when I am being cheated.... today feels a bit like that because they haven't been showing that kind of fight for the last six months. Why today?

As my post from earlier says, I am delighted with the performance today but this is not over until we are safely up that table and the performances return. That goes for Brown and the players.

Great post and echo how many of us feel. Cheated is about right. Those that travelled away to Scunthorpe for example probably would have liked that sort of effort

This above.

Whether you are pro-Brown or anti-Brown, we all care about the club and we should remember that when posting and responding to someone's point of view .............. after all it is the difference in opinions that make things more interesting most of the time.

Couldn't get to the match yesterday due to work - so thank you for all the match comments. Much appreciated.

And finally, when a team is doing very well and they have one bad game it does not make them a poor team ......... and visa versa ............ I hope you get my point.
