Post-Match Thread and Ratings Southend United 3-1 Halifax Town

That tonight is why I’m still Kev in.

That’s how he wants us to play and when we’re good, we’re really good.

We’re still far too inconsistent to make the play offs this year for me, but with some tweaks I think we will be a really good side for the level next season.

Kendall and Hopper have alllowed us to play that way, one an option to hit early to body the other in behind, and they both work very hard off the ball to help us win the ball back higher up the pitch.

Far better from Husin tonight also and I like Parillon from his first two fleeting appearances, he’s got a good stature, he’s quick and he takes risks on the ball.

Also thought we had a decent referee in terms of the way he handled things tonight, though how the game lasted 45 minutes with that kit clash I have no idea.

Much improved - quite impressive bar that cockup defensively but the response to that was good so just forget about it and move on imo.

A shame some idiots towards the back of Block V took it upon themselves to boo and jeer Bonne when coming on and spend the rest of the game making *very* funny comments about him. Don’t get the point of behaviour like this at all, doesn’t help anyone.

That aside a very good result
Yeah there are truly some wallies back there.

I hoped that tonight would be the night that this Southend team finally turned up, and they did just that. One or two early jitters with Halifax looking to break through early, but we played ourselves in and got stronger and stronger as the match went on. Lots of good performances and one or two dodgy ones, but nevertheless you lose as a team, you win as a team, and tonight we won well. Thanks to kev and co for getting the tactics right and thanks to the team for sending us home very happy. Next up Rochdale.

Unable to attend so invested in a stream the first time watching one from RH so interesting to hear the commentary from BBC Essex. So shaky at the start and Goodliff struggling but we gradually grew into the game and fully deserved the victory and confidence gained. We look better in this system
