Lol have a look at your post I think it sums up your negativity! You are right I don't know you or how long you have been a fan for etc. I can only base my views on what you and other fans post on this forum. We are four points off top spot and have today won. Perhaps you should think before you post unnecessarily negative views on our players and manager. Your views would carry more substance if we had lost 6-0 and were in the relegation zone. Sorry for questioning your support for SUFC just try to be more positive rather than questioning decisions made on MOM etc.

Do yourself a favour, put me on ignore. You are starting to seriously **** me off. My post wasn't negative, I praised PB for playing attacking football. You messed up today giving Weston the MOM, accept you were wrong and learn from your mistake

I would say in the main we look a more attractive team when playing away from home, when there's more space and teams aren't packing the midfield.

Spot on....the general theme from teams coming to roots hall is to be pleased to get a point....where as at home they feel obliged to 'have a go' thus leaving us the space and therefore the opportunities to impose our game on them.

I agree. Also, when you go on a winning run, teams will come here and do the same as Northampton, a narrow 4 across the middle. denying us space. It's more to stop us playing than to attack themselves. Those negative tactics nearly paid off for them.

The feeling is mutual. You seem to be having a personal vendetta against Weston. The great reception he got from PB and most fans when leaving the pitch and when the decision was announced proves that we were right to reward him with MOM award.

Ok, no one's done ratings yet so I might as well give my 2p's worth

Bentley - 7 - Not to much to do but was convincing with his kicking and handling.
Thompson - 6 - Improved as the game progressed after a few early errors.
Prosser - 6 - Good defending, terrible distribution.
Bolger - 7 - Thought he was good overall today, got his head on everything and a couple of good long passes, certainly looks a more natural footballer than Prosser.
White - 7 - Defensively very good but offers little going forward from left back.
Worrall - 6 - Not as good as recently but still popped up with the goal.
Timlin - 8 - MOM Was everywhere today, tackled and distributed well.
O'Toole - 4 - Thought he was pretty rubbish, his sole positive contribution was the early shot. Looked lazy and languid, I can only hope he's not fit, saw nothing to see he should be starting ahead of Leonard or even Clifford. I'm hoping for a big improvement given his reputation.
Weston - 6 - Absolute rubbish until the penalty, then seemed to pull his finger out and had a decent shot followed by the assist for Worrall. Needs to be more direct IMO, he's got the pace but seems to slow down and take too many touches, go for the Worrall option and just run at people!
Payne - 6 - Possibly up there with Timlin as our best player in the first half, but seemed to get a bit lost following the break.
Corr - 6 Mixed bag for me, thought he led the line well in the first half but then seemed to get caught up in fouls/offsides. Improved again following the pen (which was well struck).

Subs -

All got stuck in but not enough time for individual ratings

Overall summery of the game - We was desperately poor for long periods, luckily Northampton were worse, although if they scored from the free header we might be lamenting another loss.

Positives - the defence looked far more solid today (though was that down to the opposition?) and Timlin looks back to his best.

Negatives - O'Toole was far from convincing, although too early to judge I hope if Leonard's fit next game O'Toole will be warming the bench. The last thing Brown should be doing is alienating the existing squad. Also again as against Bury we struggled to break down a really poor side. Would we have won if their keeper hadn't have made that howler? I'm not convinced.

Stat attack: The last time we lost a league game in November was 24.11.2009 and we're unbeaten at home since 22.11.2008.

Why oh why do we have to have a pop at each other due to our opinions on players performances.

Weston was voted MOM and like many sponsors awards I disagree . Rarely do I agree with the decision but I look for the unsung heroes of the team that do all the grunt work and allow others to play.
No doubting Weston's contribution to both goals. One a glaring howler from their keeper and the other the best move of the match resulting in a perfect cross and perfect run into the box by Worral.
Payne was bullied out of the game by Northampton flooding midfield with big guys but he still tried to play his game.
Thompson in a previous quote on this thread was said to have had a good game. Not to me he didn't. Sorry he was pretty poor all round. Not his fault though as he's not a natural RB.
Worral to me didn't have a great game but made up for it with his goal.
BBBC still frustrates the hell out of me with his offside's but a decent effort over in the first half and the awareness to pounce on the loose ball after the keepers fumble and smashing home the resulting penalty saved his day.
Timlin simply outstanding with his breakup play

Phil Brown
One thing that puzzles me is that he seems to have to tell his players what to do constantly position wise.
He gets as angry as the rest of us when the ball is passed back rather than forward when the time is right.
Maybe they are so used to playing it across the back they forget about going forward straight away.

Not pretty today Poor first half Goalie gaff changed the game in our favour

And Northampton are a very poor team

Fit lino though !

Weston was never man of the match, he wasn't the worst player but he was nowhere near the best. If he'd been subbed at 0-0 I guarantee the reaction would have been very different. For what it's worth when Weston was announced as MOM a number of people around me laughed and I don't blame them! Poor decision IMO, there were numerous players who deserved it more. Does davewebbsbrain have a vendetta against Weston, I doubt it, he's probably just as frustrated with his consistently sub-par performances as the rest of us.

Difference of opinion makes Shrimperzone interesting, let's not have a full blown row about it though. I didn't think Weston was MOTM for what it's worth, as I thought he was woeful for 70 minutes, but I do understand why you gave it to him as he did have an influence in the latter stages. I also don't think anyone has a personal vendetta against anyone, it's not like Weston once ran DWB's dog over and he's hated him since. Quite a few people have been less than impressed with Weston of late and I can't disagree that he's been disappointing this season. Hopefully this will give him the confidence to kick on because if he plays for 90 minutes the way he played from the penalty onwards, then he'd be a cracking player.

i think there was certainly an element of energy conservation for JJOT today. hes not been playing, and as i said the other day, he isnt someone thats naturally fit and takes a number of games to get match fitness and form. it will come if people give him a chance, but if people get on his back early on, then its more likely he wont find form. i thought he did ok today. considering hed probably only trained a couple of times with team mates and was blatently not close to fully fit, he used the ball well when needed and made a couple of decent interceptions in the first half. despite what people are saying on here, hes not a no10 and never really has been. What he does do, is play a combative midfield role and specialises in arriving late in the box.

I think if you ask the 5500 in he ground there will be a number of different views regarding MOM. I think he deserved it for reasons previously given. I think that we can all agree that there was no stand out 10/10 player. For example you gave Timlin MOM but only rated his performance 8/10.

I think if we had a poll on here, Timlin would be picked for MOTM. He was terrific all game, and never stopped running. Picking a player that was only very good for a short period of the game will always get shot down.

i think if people had a poll on here, regardless of what had happened on the pitch, either timlin or payne would win hands down every week.

this is why its good to have different views and opinions on here. If the confidence weston has gained from the latter parts of todays game spurs him on to better things (his gillingham form would suggest he plays a hell of a lot better in a happy winning side with the fans behind them) then brilliant. Surely thats far better than having him slated from the sidelines from certain quarters.

Ok so I was fortunate enough this week to sponsor the match and after taking on board the feedback of the other thirteen people in our box we arrived at the decision to award Weston with MOM. In my opinion it was between Payne and Weston - purely on the basis on work rate in their respective positions - ultimately quality was lacking today (especially for the first sixty minutes) as it has been in many a game this season and in reality at half time we were struggling to pick any player.

MOM is of course a subjective decision and is merely an opinion, there is no right or wrong answer unless of course we ask all those that attended the game for their verdict. Personally I am happy with the decision, it will boost the confidence of a player who has the potential to influence our attacking threat in the second half of the season if the final twenty minutes of the game is anything to go by. Ultimately the most important factor is that the team got the right result today . . . and judging by the reaction from the changing room after the game it proved to me that the unity within this group of players is as good as any squads that we've assembled over the past few years. UPTB's!!
