Well, like many, I am very happy to have a win and three points. That is the most important bit. The team did enough and sometimes when the opposition is not so great its harder to raise your game. A clean sheet is a positive but of course we were not pressured that much.

We have a weekend off and then a spate of games which will go a long way to determining the success of this season. Out of the next five games, the next three look the hardest, Wycombe, Burton and Cambridge. All three of those teams will throw more at us than we have endured in the last four games put together.

The last time we won four in a row we followed it by not winning in five. History could easily repeat itself unless we sort out the attack. Corr is not the man and neither is Shaq. As happy as I am with recent results, I have to wear the hat of reality and put things into perspective. We have a scoring problem and two goals against Northampton does not, for me, signal the end of it.

To be honest, and I genuinely hope I am wrong, I can see us being out of the play-offs by January and that is in a downward direction as opposed to being in the auto's.

We are now going to enter a season defining period and the signs are not encouraging.

Now prove me wrong Blues! Please.

This for me is the problem with a lot of our fans. I personally think Timlin should have been man of the match but Weston wasn't far off and to laugh at it will just shrink his already ailing confidence even further. Once he did that excellent run and shot that was tipped over, you could see the transformation in his game - purely down to confidence. I wish some of our supporters would recognise a confidence player and not try and make the problem even bigger.

You've got a point, laughing certainly won't help his confidence. I'm assuming he was picked as MOM to give him a confidence boost, (yes I know he worked hard but so did everyone else bar perhaps O'Toole IMO, working hard should be the minimum requirement) though in reality it's probably done the opposite due to the reaction. MOM should be given to the best player on the day, not with misguided good intentions, give it to Weston once he produces a performance worthy of the award and he'll get the positive reaction from the crowd.

Not trying to cause a debate or row but i personally thought that Weston was our best performer today as did the 3 people I was with at the match.

All opinions I guess, but for me he is a decent option when he plays in his proper position on the left wing, he grafts, he is an outlet and he creates things - up top he is not the same player as he lacks that natural finishing ability and you don't get to run as much with the ball which is his best asset.
As above for me. I was talking to my friends just before end of the game and said the same. Timlin was very close runner up for me.

I have no problem with a CB getting rid of the ball when necessary. ...ave it. And I think prosser is doing his primary role very well (defending) but time after time knocking long aimless balls....puts us under pressure

agreed. And interesting to note that no one has mentioned the three times in the second half when the defence stepped up and Bolger stepped back playing them on side. I am in W so this was right in front of me and very clear. Also lets not forget that a Prosser 'hoof' almost went in from 30 yar plus. I am sure he meant it:winking:

Under sturrock we struggled to get results when playing badly and cost us.

This season under PB we have been playing badly yet picking up results.

It may be the difference come may.

When we get Hurst Leonard and definately Coker back regularly in the side and sign another striker we will see more entertainment.

It's a results business. And we know there are better performances to come.

Guess you didn't see the reaction in the West then when everyone laughed at it.

Weston has the worst first touch I have ever seen and has been awful lately. Would rather see Atkinson there.

I was in the West and I and a number of others didnt laugh we agreed. But I met my mate who sits in the East after and he thought Weston was poor for 70 mins. Just goes to show how we see things differently.

It wasn't a fantastic performance by any means, but important to win these type of games when you're not playing well. Also gives us some confidence going into a huge game next up away at Wycombe. I'd say Worrall was the stand out player, he's become a crucial player for us now.

If you pay your money you get to make your choice on MOM- if you don't pay you don't (and if you never intend doing so then its a bit much criticising those who contribute to the club to get the pleasure). I remember earlier in the season a group of young ladies picking Dab Bentley - my thought was initially but he's had nothing to do, then well they have paid their money and its made them happy..

Fair enough if that is how the system works, but I don't think it truly reflects generic MOM principles. Folk will always have different views on the best player on the park, so it then boils down to how they express their views on here I guess. Some will get a bit het up when posting and that is the joy of SZ.

If I'd worked my nuts off yesterday like Timlin did only to hear the MOM had gone to someone who couldn't control the ball most of the game, I'd be a bit miffed

When an opponents boss comes out and says he wants to spoil the game and make it dull

http://www.northampton-news-hp.co.u...ays-Cobblers/story-24897028-detail/story.html

You have to say that it's not all Brown's fault that the match wasn't entertaining (although as ever the three points were welcome)
When managers say this it makes you wonder whether it is an entertainment industry or a results industry. Personally I think you should try and entertain, maybe until the business end of the season, when its only results that count. If that is the way Wilder is setting the cobblers up to play then I'm glad I don't have to watch them every week.

On the game, one of the only flowing moves with any quality and attacking intent was our second goal. Very good feet from Weston (who i thought was average at best for the first 70 mins) then, Worrall ran from the wing through the penalty area pointed where he wanted the ball, and Weston got his head up and duly obliged -quality.

Completely agree, it is an entertainment buisness and its part of the reason I no longer attend as many games as i used to.

Have to ask though, was going for the draw for the benefit of the team or is he just thinking of self preservation and keeping his job ?

It is an entertainment business.I for one don't expect Real Madrid standard but the football I've seen has been poor very poor.

Managers who instruct their team to be defensive should be outlawed from the game.

Football has nothing to do with entertainment for me, so no...football is not an entertainment business in my eyes, but you are more than entitled to view it that way.

once again its an entertainment business to you, your opinion is not fact.

Very true just my opinion.

I watch us to see highly skilled players doing stuff only us mere mortals can dream of,rasping drives, keepers making super saves, good goals, fast play,1 and 2 touch play the list goes on.

I utterly believe this squad is not only capable of going up but going up as champions,Phil only has to play 442 and we will go on a run which will blow teams away..but he won't change nothing.

I am amazed the fan base is still holding up.

I've seen far worse than now, and far better for that matter. If you love the club and follow their fortunes through thick or thin then you've just got to watch them! You're either addicted or you're not. The addicts are the current fan base.
