Post-Match Thread and Ratings Southend United 1-3 Sutton United

Bad day at the office after good start going ahead.
Very poor finish from Bonne, huge chance to ensure a nervy finale. Confident he will get fitter and sharper.
Pepple not going to score many but willing runner and may prove useful.
Colin, as good a shot stopper as he is must improve distribution, particularly kicking if he wants to play league football.
Biggest worry is Gubbins, little wonder QPR and Accrington after loan wanted rid, looks a non league defender. Hopefully I’m proved wrong and he’s bedding in. Everyone else average.
Positive of another goal for Gus, fantastic return for a defensive player. Would be surprised if league clubs aren’t enquiring in January and next summer

That second half was disgraceful. We could barely string a pass together. Heads went completely after the mistake, we need to learn to kill games off when we’re in front, same issue as against Dagenham. For as long as we can’t do this we’ll be stuck down here playing ****ters like them.

As an aside, seeing more and more Arsenal, Man U, Liverpool tops at Roots Hall. Bit of a joke, think they should be turned away
Saw someone in a west ham shirt leaving

Saw this also.. what a ****ing weird idea

What an amazing contrast from Tuesday to today, brilliant to absolutely shocking. We looked comfortable until we gifted them the first goal then we completely fell apart and looked so poor.

When are we going to address Collin's appalling decision making? I like the guy he has improved massively in the last 2 years and his shot stopping is excellent but doesn't anyone train him on distribution or is it down to this ridiculous style of playing out from the back which we are not good at? He was very very lucky Tuesday which could have changed the game, caught out today which killed the game.

Keep playing like that and we will all be discussing relegation. Hopefully just a very very poor day at the office and we move on. 💙

They were quicker and stronger than us and we can’t make that many mistakes. Colin had a poor game. Gubbins makes me nervous every time he has ball at feet. We need to stop tip tappy passing around the back as we make all our own problems.

Will give Bonne benefit of doubt for a couple more games but maybe there was a reason why he was a free agent.

Thought Appiah Forson was good and direct in his cameo. Need others to drive forward more and have balls to take a shot,

We are trying too hard to walk the ball into the net

Same negative side to side, back to front tactics. Polar opposite to Tuesday.

Only way we scored was from a Steve Arnold **** up and from that point on we were on the back foot with negative play that just never tested Arnold
Sutton had a gameplay to stifle us and it worked, we had 2 players on the bench that were senior players ( I don’t count wood as senior) what really didn’t help today was Crowther and Collin

Crowther is not a good footballer, his a defender and shouldn’t be starting CCB I noticed 3 times he didn’t call and nearly cost us more than the 1 he did.

Collin has a real issue with his distribution

On the pre-match thread just five of us thought we would lose today.
The trouble with a high in the NL is often a low straight after.
That mistake before half time just hammered confidence. A great goal from the oppo, and you hold your hands up: a gift - and you make them for the rest of the match.
There's not a lot of mental strength in the NL. You're either up or you're down, and that's what marks us out from the higher leagues: consistency, or rather a lack of it.
