Post-Match Thread and Ratings Southend United 1-2 Col U *Spit*

Second Goal?

If the outfield Players don't do what the keeper asks!! How's that his fault?

Larent was a late arrival in the wall which broke it up. Not the KEEPERS fault!! Buy the way it was a great free kick, top corner. We would have been proud of it if it was at the other end

I have played for say 20 teams and every single time without fail the keeper lines up the wall end off. To suggest players are disobeying what Joyce has said then I would be suprised.

As for where the players are coming from your guess as is good as mine mate hence why I said Tilly has in my opinion got a massive job on his hands.

Completely agree. It's the 'keepers responsibility to sort out the wall and get himself positioned.

Joyce failed at both.

First rule of football management , get the spine of the side sorted and build the rest of the team around it. Unfortunately today's wasn't good enough. Reserve keeper (Joyce) , promising young loanee centre half (Middleton), committed but defensively poor second centre back (Barrett), two out of form centre midfielders (JFC & Macca) and a prolific striker (Barnard) who is totally isolated !

Something the rest of us don't know then??

Atmosphere I am sorry but I break my silence you are a **** a total **** I suppose you sat there with your hands under your arse you **** ****ing **** people like me put themselves out every week to create an atmosphere to be judged by a **** like you Southend you are not ****

Well that post tested the swear filter ..

Play nice guy's we area all pished off today.

Col Ewe's long ball punts surprised me a little as you hear about the good football they play, rubbish it was route one all the way and again we can't cope with it.

Yeovil and Exeter two other recent examples of a team clearly not as good a footballing side as us but able to take three points as we couldn't cope with their direct style,

I fear a repeat Monday as we know how poor Orient are but against us it doesn't seem to matter at the moment. Exeter won so much second ball last week it was embarassing.

Changes are needed when the window reopens, the midfield needs a creative spark and width, Grant has been excellent in recent weeks but Moussa and Macca not been sparkling like we know they can, Barney needs a partner and we have got to cut the stupid defensive lapses fast or we will be in relegation fight in a league that for all the 'big name' teams isn't very good.

Keepers never get the wall they want first time. I know!

You didn't comment on the quality of the free kick. Not many would have saved that!

Your right Tilly was a massive job on his hands, he's making it harder by not playing competant players in there correct positions. They must be competant, he signed them.

When was the last time Joyce got a run of games at any club? And the same with Walker?

Part of the reason these two look poor is because they are unable to get any sort of form or confidence. I'm not saying they or brilliant, neither am I saying this is Tilson's fault and he should play them more. All I'm saying is that it's easy to criticise a substitute who only has a few touches to impress/a reserve who is thrown in at the deep end, whereas regular starters are still not performing as well as they can.

I happen to think today was an overall decent performace, but the same problems are still showing. I personally hope that on Monday players are at least played in their best positions. Which either means going 4-5-1 or starting Walker/Freedman alongside Barnard, and at least see how this goes

Erm I beg to differ on that point...Foran,Paynter,Harold,Macdonald over the last few seasons and I will chuck in Walker and Revell to boot.I don't think he makes that many great finds at all but is maybe tied by the wage structure.

ive seen some stupid posts in my time and theirs a few on here, dont blame joyce and as for others, moussa was well below par, as was three others, 2nd half christophe was only player wanting the ball and willing to do something with it, laurent fizzed out as had none of the ball and barney looked up front all on his own again with no support as usuall and thought we were all over col u for last 25 mins and deserved a 2-2 draw at the least, bring on borient and get some much needed points.

all of which are doing at least a reasonable job with other league one clubs (obviously bar walker still at the club, and foran in scotland where he has a decent rep)

I edited my post but nevertheless, they obviously did not suit the way Tilly and Brush choose to play our game.I think there is very little motivation with the players we have now...If you are not getting paid on time etc and the club as a whole is on a very unstable footing I am not really surprised.

Exactly, My old boss told me when you **** up stick your hands up!!

By the way most of the above mentioned are doing OK elsewhere. If your face don't fit etc!!

Do you agree Laurent should be played upfront, don't go on about Walkers first touch, it was soo far in front I don't think he got a first touch, I may be wrong.

Laurent is most effective out wide as has been shown in the past few games. Why Tilly chose to play him up front is baffling unless he only has Walker, who has the first touch of a rapist..Dire.

I didn't think it baffling that Laurent played up front, you've probably nailed the reason in your post. IMO Scannell should have played to make up for the absence of Laurent on the right.
