I thought from the South upper that cutting it back more to Fortune' would've been a better choice as he was right in front of goal.

The actual stripes look white to me, but we can probably run a poll on it to be sure.

They look like they're doing the Charleston :dim:

no wonder we didn't win!

I think Cox deserves a break. A lot of people seem to think he missed a sitter yesterday, and yes it was a good chance, but it wasn't as easy as some are making out. And to be fair to him he's been sat on the bench in the last few games and his confidence is probably shot with Mooney starting ahead of him. Hopefully soon we can go back to two up front, with Ranger and Cox with Fortune as back up.

Good point and well made, AND you can add Barratt, Oxley, Mooney, Williams, King and a few more, to the list of players that have a select number of "supporters" seemingly hoping to see them fail. Sometimes these lower league players don't get it 100% right BUT from what I have seen they are putting the effort in.

If Maddison's shot just before half time had gone in it would have been a completely different game. Having let Posh ( Taylor) completely control the game and advance numerous times to the edge of our box it was only their woeful final ball that spared us. In the first half we just kicked it up field and ran after it.

Second half they tired and ran out of ideas and we got slightly on top and should have really have finished them off.

For those who want to strengthen midfield it would have to be at the expense of a centre half but we need 5 at the back to stop conceding. However that means that we will rely on booting it up field and chasing - which McGlashen did very well.

Innis looks reasonable but may get booked every game.

I thought it was a poor game only 4 shots on target each and can't see how players can get 7s and 8s.
The only real excitement in the game was the cliff edge can we hang on to the lead and yet again predictably we did not.

Our survival will depend on our away form and can we pinch a goal and hang on because once we are behind we have no chance of breaking a side down.

Agreed, it was a good chance that I would still have expected someone of Cox's caliber to score but it wasn't a "sitter" as is being made out by some, the ball was behind him and traveling at some pace. The more glaring miss from Saturday and the one to be looking at that cost us the win was the penalty.

Who is 'Mick George' by the way. Some sort of local Cambridgeshire spiv?!

Given that "George" is a surname shared by a number of noted people (Charlie George, Susan George, David Lloyd George, Bobby George etc), I resent the assertion that having the first name of Mick makes him sound like a "spiv". :winking:

Seriously Mick George Limited are big in the construction industry round that way. No connection with the Football League Assistant Referee of the same name, also from East Anglia.

Ouch ;

" Defeat at Roots Hall would have hurt. The home side fielded quite possibly the most immobile back three in the division, were slow-witted and slow-moving in midfield and toothless in attack until substitutes Simon Cox and Marc-Antoine Fortune were send on 20 minutes from the end. Cox should have sealed the points when screwing badly wide with the goal at his mercy a couple of minutes before Maddison struck."

Fans from every club we have played so far have remarked on what a poor side we look.

I actually thought Peterborough were pretty poor, Taylor aside. Bit embarrassed to have only drawn with them.

Saturday was one of the weakest Peterborough sides of recent times. Their only outlet was Taylor and he knows he's the best player in the team as he was getting visibly frustrated about other players in the team not being on his wavelength

why should they have a different view to our own supporters ? :winking:

Analysis: Late leveller a kick in the teeth for Blues

FRUSTRATION is often a familiar feeling when following the fortunes of Southend United. But even by the Shrimpers’ standards Saturday’s 1-1 draw against Peterborough United was quite tough to take.

Poor game management again cost us 3 points. After the injury time board went up Ferdinand was imploring the back line and midfield to push out as they were all too deep, yet Brown was gesturing at them to get back. How many times do we concede late goal because Brown insists on sitting too deep, does he never learn.

Phil prefers to cling onto leads rather than bury the other team.
