Post-Match Thread and Ratings Southend United 0-3 Barnet

Yet another serving of **** by Maher. Golding, Kendall and Walker the only ones to score above a 4/10 today… I can’t even be bothered to do ratings, much like most of that team couldn’t be bothered to compete today.

Barnet could have won 7-0 if they wanted to, but they knew they didn’t have to get out of second gear. Absolute nonsense.
Disagree with Kendall - ineffective today.
Fair play to Walker, looked lively I thought.

I find some of the comments on here really interesting.
I see the problem of being decent players (most of them) who are being badly coached.
Other fans clearly see the problem as being substandard players.
Strongly, but respectfully, disagree.
Which players are decent, as in NL decent?
I'd keep Collin, Ralph, GSM, Golding (if poss), Morton, maybe, Miley, at a push, and the jury's out on Kendall.
But the rest?

That was a Barnet side who hadn’t won in 5 until today and also lost their star striker (and replaced him immediately by the way) but still managed to put 3 past us with relative ease.

Let’s not kid ourselves that we’ve been done by Barcelona here, yet we are miles off them. Absolutely appalling.

I’ve said it a million times, but we are doing an Oldham right now and it needs to be addressed. That £750k increase in income will be swiftly met with an even bigger loss in ticket sales this summer and next season if not…

Zeros all round today for players and management. Season's all but done in January. Attendances will start to fall before to long if these **** performances continue. COSU needs to show they are here for the right reasons now and part ways with this management team and then give the new man some bloody money to spend.

Maher out. The guy is clueless. Boring slow tactics, taking off Kendall for Bonne when they should have been playing together from the start. Anyone with half a football brain could see we lacked any physical presence up front. I know Bonne hasn't scored but we needed someone up there who can hold the ball. Players also have had enough by the looks of it judging by this shameless performance. Something is seriously wrong on the training ground.

On the one hand Barnet are a good team with pace and fire. On the other hand we are struggling. We seem unable to run quickly at opposition defences, unable to make accurate crosses and unable to shoot when an opportunity arises. Our strikers get very little service. It's a frustrating watch. There was a time when we performed well against teams at the top of the table but that seems to no longer be the case. We are also complete mugs at defending corners.

But at least we still have a team to support even if they're driving us up the wall.....

I believe with a different manager the players we have could well perform more effectively than they are.

In over 35 years of watching football I have never seen a manager unable to change a formation or make any tactical changes during the game until I saw Kevs teams.

The football has been dire almost his entire time here, it only got exciting during the backs to the wall days, players playing out of their position, but playing beyond themselves and chucking everything at it. The sad reality is COSU will stick with him and flip and flop for the whole of this season and I suspect probably the whole of next as we finish 15th and 13th over the next two seasons.

Most teams in this division can only dream of 6000 plus crowds and certainly none would have this level of support if they were playing the dung we are and being sat as lowly as we are. I don't buy the "lets give Kev a proper pre season, he couldn't get his targets" This has nothing to do with personnel, its just a pants management team with their clicky favourites, playing crab ball every game

We are just not good enough, it was men against boys out there today and our performance was truly shocking. Once again we are so slow doing anything, the midfield was non existant and the defence just rubbish. Barnet are a good side and we are not. The tactics continue to baffle most of us and we just play the same old boring pace less nothing every week. We didnt look like scoring had we been out there all day and the forwards get zero service at all.

Kev has a lot of questions to answer but we don't know if this new Data analysis is actually holding up the signing of any new targets that might help. Personally i think something has to change very soon in one direction or another as fans will not want to watch this rubbish much longer.
. Well put just about sums up how bad things are at the moment it’s a very hard time at the moment following our once great club

Kev, himself is overcoached!.
At this time we need a more blood and thunder approach.
May not be a purists perspective but goals win you matches and ultimately promotion.
If and when we ever reach the Dizzy Heights, then it becomes, literally, a different ball game whereby a good Coach comes into his own.
Having said that we are woefully short of commitment from several of the players and a good clear out is needed.
Kev may be a legend but this is not his bag since his purist approach is not the answer.
I have fond memories of Adam B. who gave his all on and off the field for this club -not that Kev has not given his best. It is just that there is not even leadership on the pitch such as the like once given by Adam B.
Sorry Kev. I admired you as a player but I am far, far, far less convinced to your credentials as a prospective Manager.
Support wise we are the "Big Club" at this level and it goes without saying that we crave for a return to the "Big Time"

So we have to be sustainable as far as income and outgoings are concerned. The stadium(which we don't own) is a complete joke and needs a fortune spending on it to even meet minimum standards. We are a non league club who are happy not to be relegated. I'm afraid this is where we are and probably will be for some time. It's so depressing but COSU are not millionaires that can just throw unlimited money at the club. They have already lost a small fortune between them and probably some are regretting getting involved. I don't really know where we go from here. I guess it's up but maybe not any time soon.
