Post-Match Thread and Ratings Southend United 0-3 Barnet

He won't start them, and by the time he's crammed them into his system, he'll have stifled their creativity. We stood behind him at Braintree and heard everything he said to the players. Kendall was trying to move around, find space, and run in behind - Maher was bollocking him, and ultimately hooked him, for not staying in shape and not tracking back. It's Braintree ffs, not Liverpool - we should be taking the game to them.
Wow, thats incredible.

I'm going to say something that might get some people going. I would have sacrificed Gus after 20 minutes, and put in a right back for a back four. He was getting run ragged, he was leaving huge space behind that they capitalized on. You could see them targeting him and that side, and it worked a treat. He also was running slower than usual, as if he is carrying an injury.
It's been a regular tried tested and successful strategy against us to exploit the space behind the wing backs. Several teams have taken us apart this season this way and our shape didn't change.

Agreed they were good, but I’m not convinced they were as amazing as you’re making out, or miles better than they were last year. Of course we’re going to lose some matches, my issue is the manner of the defeat, being utterly outclassed and not mustering any sort of attacking threat. Honestly, were you happy with how we performed yesterday? So many individual players were way below their best IMO.
No I wasn't happy but I can't really single out anyone. Maybe the selection choice could be questioned but then I have never been a pro footballer nor manager (EFL & NL) so like most (if not all) of us on here, what do I know ?

Four at the back. Get em tight and trained with the keeper. Don’t care what you put in front of them.
451 away.. 433 at home . Have at least one total ******* holding midfielder.

Incredible?. as if 'staying in shape' is proving a positive outcome most weeks?.

All this favourites stuff reminds me of picking teams at school. Jack could even get game time in the NLS. I have been a fan of giving him more opportunities in the past but TBH it’s very hard to make a case for him right now..
Is that because the players that are picked are doing so well then?

Picking the limited number of different ones will, and have, made no difference whatsoever. Regrettably . Certainly picking someone who can’t get a game in the NLS doesn’t seem a recipe for success.

After what I witnessed yesterday I would make drastic changes, can't see what there is to lose atm.

We have been shocking so many times this season that anything is worth a try including giving JW a start.

Yes Southend looked slow ,but thats to be expected when the players are sent out with a ball and chain around their ankles, Time to un shackle them and the only way thats going to happen is for Maher to go . But so many on here love him because he was a legend as a player for the club that they dont see it, they wont wake up until Maher takes us into NLS and we getting just 2 or 3000 supporters at matches again ,just like in the mid 80s

My final word on Saturday. Having seen and spoken to both Ben Coker and Zak Brunt while they and the others were all coming off the pitch, I have to say that the Barnet players looked a lot more relaxed than our players did as they came off from the pre match warm up. All joking and chatting with each other - ours are never like that these days. I know some of them like to be really into a routine before kick off and see it almost as a ritual, but I am a little worried about this big difference.

Interesting- if we are being honest, the management, players and us supporters are all shellshocked from the last couple of years. In the middle of a crisis people keep going but it's when they emerge from that they fall apart. Kev has looked more on the edge this season than last, for sure; the players clearly aren't at it and by all accounts the Kensdale thing came at completely the wrong time and may or may not have been handled well at the outset. Us supporters are constantly bickering which is weird after being so unified during the very dark times.
