Post-Match Thread and Ratings Southend United 0-1 Yeovil Town

Am dreading the misogyny that's coming.
Please @Cricko and staffers - keep an eye on it. Yeah, the ref might have been poor but let comments reflect decisions on the pitch rather than anything else.
I'll let you decide if this is misogyny.

Women have a physical ability as do men and both have an understanding of it.
When a woman refs a womans game they know what that limit is.
When they ref a mens game, they see a lot more physicality than the women's game and so I think have to guess at where the boundary is between physical strength and being overly aggressive.

This happened numerous times today with Bim. He is a strong lad who outmuscled his marker time after time yet got blown up for a foul every time. Pure strength won him the ball on those occasions yet the ref saw it as being overly aggressive and blew up for a foul.
He plays like that every week, we scored twice against Tamworth where he used his strength to win the ball yet today that strength was continually seen as being overly aggressive.

I can't see any reason for men to ref women's football or women to ref men's football other than to tick the boxes of the woke snowflake society

We were slightly the better side before Jeacock torpedoed us with his moment of madness. He had been poor before then actually, his kicking was woeful. A classic example of how not to take your opportunity. Collin performed well in his place and made one great save. Sadly Kev wasn't on the touchline to shout congratulations to him.

We still played well but were undone by a mis hit cross which sailed into the net, deceiving our defence.

The calls for a penalty looked dubious on the live stream. Hopefully D1versity caught the moment from a better position.

Why can't Kev keep himself under control?

We deserved a draw, but it's a game to shut away in a little box in the attic and forget about. Onwards and upwards.
What was said? Unless it was over the top he shouldn't be booked

We have had some bad referees in the past but she was dreadful. I have always said Men should referee men’s matches and women stick to women’s matches. I don’t like women commentators covering men’s football and will always turn the telly or radio off if that happens.
Personally, I don't see the problem. It's the same Laws of the Game, isn't it ?

This game against a average side was unfortunately ruined by a moment of madness.Barring a miracle our season is now over . As a team we huff and puff sideways with very little threat up front ,and seldom take a shot on goal . When the game takes a twist like today we can't even seem to revert to route one when needed at the end . We clearly still are a long way off from getting out of this dreadful league

For the first period we seemed to be moving the ball about well and a little faster than the norm, but making no chances with either Bridge not getting a cross in or Bim being cuddled/ shirt pulled/ wrestled for no reward. Walker hadn't got going but seemed to be finding his way.
Simplest red card Abigail will ever give out.
Down to 10 we contained YT and goal was 100% a fluke cross that found the only place to get in, Plant couldn't do it again in a thousand attempts.
Subs came a bit late and I was surprised didn't happen at half time.
Ralph needs to be given some Captain training as he should have been talking to the ref more and pointing out the succession of play stopping fouls on Gus and Bim, he also needs to get close to Gus and cool him down when he gets the "red mist"
The 4th lino was after Kev from the start and following him across the box , almost marking him and talking all the time AND then got miffed and cried for the ref when he didn't like the chatter. And Kev ought to have known better than rise to the ****ers wind up.
A draw would have been fair, but despite there being no lack of effort we were definitely back to the play patterns of 5/6 games past with the midfield reluctant to carry the ball forward, at their feet, when the space was there - too often the sideways, short, no gain, no pain pass was their option despite Bim and Walker making runs into space.
More training ground work needed and lots of thought.

Then why do so many male refs blow for every little thing as well at this level? Rubbish refs get conned no matter their gender. Today, the ref was rubbish.

Unfortunately for me that’s two games in a row Miley has looked well off pace and gave no real impact. I get he only played when we had 10 players but there’s no urgency or no real risk taking. Another reason why I believe Morton deserves the start.

Yeovil have a real envious midfield, move the ball quickly and played the extra man advantage brilliantly to their credit. They’re always looking to turn into the space and progress play, i couldn’t help but think we had the same opportunities to do the same but was more keen on bouncing the pass back instead of progress. Even with 11 on the pitch i still think they were running us silly.

Bim motm again, had a real thankless task but gave everything.

Today the ref ruined the game, no disputing the red card I have no idea what he was thinking coming out that far, GK positioning appears quite costly for us this year, but every opportunity there was minor contact in the back, Yeovil players were hitting the deck and the ref allowed it every time but began to clock on to their antics far too late. They played her perfectly..

A disappointing one for sure as I felt we could have pushed with the crowd but wasn’t meant to be.

I'm not so sure about that. I think most females that follow football would understand whether a player (male or female) is using his strength to outmuscle his marker or not.

Well bit of a nothing game really between 2 sides who want to win the possession stakes. Misjudgement by Jeacock who then handles outside the box…not sure if he was last man as I’m in east blacks…but off he goes. Was never a penalty for Bim, happened right in front of me so had a clear view, was never a corner either, goal kick would have been the correct decision. Obviously a very precious 4th official wanted to be noticed so Kev was on his way, not sure what would have wound him up as nothing contentious really happened. Ref wasn’t great, wasn’t the worst we’ve had either, just took too long to make decisions, but more often than not it was the right one. she wasn’t the reason we lost or didn’t even have a shot on target. Frustrating at the end we never just go route 1 into the box to see what happens…injury time and we are knocking around at the back like we are 1 up. MOM probably Bim, then Taylor …next up at home a certain Mr Cardwell !
