Post-Match Thread and Ratings Southend United 0-1 Sittingbourne Town

You lot need to calm the **** down

If you can't deal with **** like this, football isn't for you! Simple as that.

We've come unstuck against a team that hasn't lost in nearly 30 games ... Cry me a river. every club in the country has suffered results like this, that's why the English football pyramid is the best in the world

Lick your wounds, put your egos to bed and let's get behind the team for the remainder of the season

UP THE ****ING SHRIMPERS! 🦐

What’s the old Python song. As much as imagination as a caravan site but I still love you. Pretty much sums yesterday up but we carry on loving our club.

Is the Discussing thread still open?

It isn't the fact we lost against a team 3 leagues below us as much as they way we played against them and completely capitulated. Take into account also the funds we have lost had we of won that game. a nice home draw again would have bought 30 to 40k in at least.

Still never mind eh., none of that matters.

I couldn’t give a flying **** if they are unbeaten in nearly 30 games . They are 3 divisions below , and not winning is totally unacceptable. It’s about time this fan base stops accepting mediocrity. This whole season is shocking. Cba with sentimental stuff forget about last year . I want success and this management team ain’t gonna deliver that

As somebody else mentioned I feel a lot of it yesterday was the set up and players available. Although the team and squad we had should have won that easy.

At one point I looked at the team on the pitch and the amount of attacking players we had were very minimal. Even with 3 strikers. Behind that you had KAF as an attacking midfielder, morton and gsm and Ralph on the wings. Ralph is just far too defensive to play that role and even after the subs there was hardly any attacking flair on the pitch. You’re really going to struggle to create attacking with that set up.

I didn’t think the formation and set up assisted us but I do have some sympathy with Kev on this one with Miley, Husin and Bridge out including Coker from the start ina midfield 3 we wouldn’t have had any CM’s on the bench.

Fair play to Sittingbourne they had a plan and it come off to a tee. They played well but even with the team we put out we should be beating them comfortably.

Might be an unpopular opinion, but we controlled the game and created loads of chances, just same old lack of finishing. We haven’t been outplayed, we’ve been beaten by a fluke goal in the 97th minute. I think people need to calm down a little. It’s only a few days ago we was raving about our form..
Did we though?!? I can’t really remember many if any guilt edged chances. We were toothless and created the square root of **** all again.. against a team from the same level of the pyramid as Basildon united and tilbury. 1 up from the ESL for gods sake. Kendall - a typical Maher striker, runs a lot but has no end product in front of goal. KAF - absolute pony, his chance today and he blew it, how he got motm I have no idea. Should have just given it to one of there’s to be nice. Gubbins I hope never plays for us again. He is toilet and will be lucky to playing park football in a few years, he is THAT bad. Harness, see ya later mate, you can’t kick, embarrassing. Worst defeat in our history for sure. Bottle jobs. Useless. Garbage. Whatever you want to call it today was unacceptable. We’ll probably win 1-0 in the league next week and be nearer the playoffs and Maher can paper over the cracks and say how it’s all about the league. But, jhhheeeeeez today should not be forgiven. Bye Maher and I hope to never see some of those players again. Wanchors.

Instead of slating either the players Or the manager Hows about seeing where we finish at the end of the season . Then if we dont inprove Maybe then is the time to day who should say who should stay and who should go .
After yesterday Tommy, I should cocoa, sorry I can’t, but will be at Maidenhead next week cheering them on for my sins.🦐

I just don't get it.

When the players play well, at the end of the game they come over to the crowd to get their well earned praise. So they should. ( aren't we good, look at us)

However, when they dish up the total and utter crap that we have seen this season, they need to be left in no uncertainty that it is not good enough. Booing them in my mind is totally acceptable. Players cannot have it all their own way. I for one will give praise when it is due and admonishment when it is due.

I find this posting on here about not booing, player confidence, upsetting players etc etc a complete and utter load of bollocks.

This season just has not been good enough.

RIGHT. Lets hear the excuses, embargo, tactics, Maher, players not available, blah blah blah.

I personally don’t feel it’s right to boo. But I do notice Maher moved swiftly on after a poor performance. Same happened after the Barnet match.

I read a lot on here about Mortons passing ability.
Yes he can ping a good long pass , but most of his are simple , safe , square ones.
Nothing that hurts the opposition.
He never tries to get forward and support the strikers.
He's easy for the opposition.
Yes I'm sure it's how is being told to play , but you really don't need a deep sitting midfielder with 3 CB's.
We are too safe.
We wait for teams to make errors , then if we capitalise , we try to hold on.
I wish we would just try to impose ourselves more and not play this safe , scared game.
It will get us relatively fair results but will not ultimately achieve us promotion.
I started typing this as a bit of a dig at Morton , but he is not the issue , it's the style of play and that can only be laid at the managers feet.

I feel Morton does try and pass it through the lines but a lot of the time there is a lack of movement.

He should have had 2 assists Tuesday night from great deep crosses but the strikers managed to miss them.

Rather they took the inept manager off our hands. Kendall, KAF, Moncur, Bonne, all came with good reputations…..and then they met Kevs methods!
Kendall’s reputation was as a workhorse not a goalscorer. That’s what he’s doing for us.

KAF had a good reputation from daggers fans, so I’m curious why the football people weren’t so eager to bring him back in.

Moncur and Bonne - They were obviously a risk as their good times were a long way back in time.

Kev set the team up yesterday as he did the last 2 matches. If Kev has done something wrong - it’s signing too many players like these 4 (and maybe harsh on Kendall as I think he may come good).

Yet has more goals and assists this season than our ‘ attacking ‘ wing back jack bridge
That says more about Bridge this season though. Ralph should never ever deployed as a wing back when we are trying to score goals. We ended up with 5 defenders on the pitch whilst trying to score against a part time side.

You absolutely can blame Maher for that! I don’t see him balling players out, subbing them off before half time etc! If he’s in charge, he must be in charge! He’s pathetic on the touchline unless he’s upset about a decision and in interview he doesn’t take responsibility. Thanks for the memories. Bye!
Agree with this . Villa manager made 4 subs at half time as he didn’t like what he saw first half ( and Ollie Watkins injury) That’s how you show leadership and dissatisfaction..

Before you shoot the messanger After the last to leauge games we scored 4 and conceded 0 .So at that point mayer got things right .Yes we lost today to a lower leauge club .But this is not the first time this has happened And it may not be the last .Things look bad after that defeat But with new players coming in And maybe a couple more Our leauge position is in a good place right now and hopfully it will get better fingers crossed UTB .
It’s not about the league. We lost to a part time side on par with Basildon united, alright sittingbourne would probably smash them as Basildon are rubbish but the point remains, same level of the pyramid.. It’s disgusting. A disgrace. We have no choice but to accept it as it’s happened we have to move on but those players deserve(d) hell for that performance. Useless.
