At least 3 times last night Eastwood had a run at goal with a good chance to shoot and just passed the ball. I don't understand that.

Moment of the night though was in the first half when the ball came into the box, Prosser got the ball and I don't know if it was a sublime bit of skill or huge fluke but Prosser stood with the ball, moved to go one way, didn't go but stayed on the spot and all the Scunthorpe players dispersed leaving Prosser to calmly pass the ball out of defence. People constantly moan about Prosser and 'hoofing' but his passing to feet was excellent last night and I think only one hoof when he was sold short on a pass.

Please let the club know about this, email in fao Steve Kavanagh.

thanks OBL. The full version is actually worse in that usually I always phone the 'box office' but having difficulty getting through I thought that I'd book online which I did just before the Morecambe game. The tickets never turned up within a few days so I phoned the club and they said they had been sent Sat 7th. Post here is not great so I waited til Thursday still not arrived the club said that they would re-print and to collect from NE corner of main stand.

We collected and although we were in the block nearest West stand, we went along side East stand towards the turnstiles under thewalk way where we got our first red light and the lady steward told us we had to go to Shakesphere Drive turnstiles I.e. walk right around the other side.

So we get to the right turnstile and still same problem. The young steward looked at the tickets, yes we had the right day, right match, yes this was Roots Hall he couldn't see why they wouldn't work, but said that we would need to get them re-printed and all we needed to do was queue up at the ticket office behind us on Shakespeher Dr. We did this and te young lad took our tickets and gave us two new ones, I looked at them and they were for the West stand and not the two front row seats in the South Upper! he said that they could not re-print here!

I thought this is ridiculous so went back to the turnstile and saw the same guy and asked to speak to someone in charge. They got a senior steward who told te young lad to use his pass to let us through, but he needed to tear off and keep our bar coded strips. I wonder whether the issue is that they have to account for every entrance on the system, I.e. he wasn't letting in a mate.....? Or maybe with the original tickets not arriving the re-reprinted ones were somehow not valid? Either way they need a plan B, lucky it wasn't a capacity crowd!

sorry for the long winded post, but it may help others.

Really sorry to hear of your problems, something else strange last night was that there was a solitary Scunthorpe fan, wearing their shirt who had somehow got a ticket in the middle of the West Stand, and was sitting literally a couple of rows in front of us. I'm not sure if the constant texting he was doing was "HELP!" or if someone had stitched him up. He very soon tucked his shirt up under his jacket, but the silly sod never approached a steward for help, and just sat there the whole match, not even flinching when they scored! If that was you, wouldn't you have discreetly asked a steward if you could be taken to the away end?

That was brilliant. I made an extra effort to concentrate on prosser last night. Not once did he hit a 'hoof' unless under pressure or nothing was on. But he got grief from the crowd. Phillips 'hoofed' it several times when there were options and gets no grief. Some of our support simply wont accept him

I actually thought coker was excellent until the error, is it just me? And can someone explain the substitutions fir me

2nd week in a row I've left early. How about instead of a boo at the end, we all just leave 5 minutes before the end, so the stadium is completely empty. Reckon that will get the message across to the players?

football is about taking your chances we didn't and made a mistake, we played well and we will start to win again playing like that when people get match fit:smile:

I was pretty angry with the way some sections of the fans decided to launch an attack on Straker too. I thought bringing him on was a good move as we looked like we needed some pace and someone to increase the tempo a bit but cry's of "oh not f*****g Straker" straight at him followed by sarcastically clapping him and shouting abuse when he misplaced ONE pass following several decent exchanges. I have no doubts that this is coming from the same fickle bunch that were in love with him after his first two games and it's incredibly frustrating.

I know most of us supporters are good people who pay honest, hard earned money to watch crap like last night, but being so unsupportive to players who have lost form is only going to knock confidence that is already low.

Turning up, buying a pie and shouting abuse is not 'support'.

We deserved a draw last night but a big worry is the lack of a goalscoring midfielder. Atkinson, Hurst, Leonard, Timlin and Laird have probably not scored ten goals between them using stats from last season and this. Corr needs to play alongside Freddy Eastwood as they are capable of being 20 goals a season men.

As much as its right that we support the players 4 defeats on the bounce in league 2 is NOT GOOD ENOUGH!!!

Its a double edged sword.

When Sturrock was here we played direct football but got results and people moaned.

Now PB is here we are trying to play football and not getting results.

Im sure we would all like to see free flowing football and wins but its a results business. As shocking as scunthorpe were they have taken 3 points from us.

What i found quite baffling is that Deon Burton was on the bench given that they didnt look like scoring all game. Also the guy with the dreads is probably what we are missing. We dont have a single player in out team who looks to take people on.

If we could just get some pace out wide and up top we will be there or there abouts.

I think this is the crux of a debate that is going to loom large over the coming weeks, especially if form doesn't pick up very soon. I remember speaking to Paul Sturrock a short while ago and he was explaining how difficult it is to get out of this division. I can't remember the exact words he used for what's required but it was something like being cunning and crafty......I suppose you could add to that luck as well.
For what it's worth, I reckon that either of these managers could get us out, if finances weren't a major issue. Yet THEY ARE, so there will soon be the inevitable comparisons between both managers and the squads they have assembled on a shoe string. PS always got us a squad that may have not always have been pretty to watch but were able to grind out results and get us there or there abouts in the league. PB has got us playing prettier football but is starting to feel the heat with a lack of results and we will need to see the temperature of the kitchen, come mid-October. If there is a fire by that time...........................................well, Luggy hasn't got a job yet! :winking:

Ok I've calmed down. I actually walked all the way back to deepest Eastwood in the rain trying to analyse the game. I've only seen the last two and I fly back next Saturday so no more until Xmas. Back four is clearly under strength and it is no good being tight for 60 minutes then gifting a goal. It happens from time to time that's life but we have no one commanding defender marshaling the troops. In midfield I like what PB is trying to do but we have no creativity (Gower) no thought (Maher) and no one seemingly wanting to or capable of driving forward (their Ricky Otto). Up front I actually think we are fine.

Pretty football 50 yards from goal doesn't win games.

Yep. We need to get the ball in their box much, much quicker. It doesn't have to be hoofball but last night was a perfect example. Tons of possession, 13 shots but only 2 weak headers and a shot in the 88th minute from Hurst were on target.

We have a side that nine times out of ten will let in at least one goal per game. This means for us to win matches we need to score at least 2. Problem is at the moment we don't have two goals per game in us. Hardly any goal scorers in midfield and no real chance creators there either.

Last three games we have not been able to break down a team that puts many men behind the ball and last nights game almost mirrored the Wycombe game who played us on the break even though they were at home. With no player willing or able to get behind the opposition's defence or to the bye line, we cant even seem to be able to play any sort of possession in front of the other sides defence to create chances to combat this.

Mr Brown, stated in the Echo the other day that he had signed 15 players so far.... and at the time of writing they seem to be the wrong choices, as such he is the one to take the responsibility for the teams shortcomings and poor performance... and he has to sort out the problems.

Most of the players last night were absolutely knackered at the end of the game, and their reward for all their efforts was boo's from the West Stand. I thought that this was a disgrace and unbecoming of a true supporter. Any booing or anger should be aimed toward Mr Brown and his coaching staff, not towards those who, after all, are following managerial instructions on the pitch, it is not their fault if their skill set does not match the style of play expected of them by Mr Brown!

Mr Brown has to reconsider the style of play so that it suits the players that he signed.... simples!

What long term damage that last minute winner at Chesterfield, we have gone from an aura of invincibility to "rabbits in the headlights". If that corner had not landed on the head of the giant Gnaduillet but any others it would have sailed over the bar and I bet we would still be unbeaten. A lot of football is in the head and we must start again as if it was the first game, over to you PB.

What would be good enough for you?

The club is bankrupt and under embargo so Phil cannot sign world beaters..We have what we have.

I believe...

First game of the season last night. First half great. Players keen for the ball, great first touches and so nice not to hear the cries and groans from the crowd as another ball gets hoofed up field. I've never seen a southend team play like that. Fantastic. But 2nd half is the southend I remember no confidence no control and no imagination. I believe phil brown has the capability to change our club. We can become and good passing, exciting to watch football club. We have a lot of football fans that don't buy into the expense of the premier league and are looking for a cheaper alternative. This could be our time. We are having a blip. But keep the faith with what brown is trying todo. This could be the start of a beautiful time. I believe.........

A lot of comments on here about the back four, all plaid really well yesterday, but not one word about our ability to put the ball into the opposing net, as last week week huff and puff pass from side to side, eventually possibly we might get a cross in but nobody in the box, the midfield and forwards need to look at them selves we should have been two or three up at half time, the one error would have been glossed over, we need a midfield general, and a quick pacey experienced forward. Brown needs to understand this is a very different league to play neat football in.
