7 games in and you don't trust Paul Sturrock's decision making!! STURROCK OUT!? NO! he freely admits he is tinkering with the formation and i am sure the same applies to the players. TUT TUT! Give him a chance and by Christmas you will see who he prefers.

how has he alienated them?

By not playing them and bringing in an 18 year old kid to get a start. I also believe that neither Spencer or Paterson are travelling to Hereford, how alienated do you want to be?

I am all for giving Sturrock the benefit of the doubt, and indeed I am a big fan of his, however this decision just leaves me slightly numb. Again, a couple of injuries and we're going to be relying on players (if indeed they are still here) to score our goals - even though they know Luggy doesn't want them!

It's up to the player to push himself into Sturrock's team, not vice versa. At the end of the day, and I'm not in anyway suggesting that this is the case, if Paterson and Spencer are the type of player who everytime they fall out of favour are going to get upset and lose faith in the manager/themselves, then football probably isn't the career for them... least of all as a striker.

We're not offering a bloody counselling service though- this is professional football and we are crying out for a badass striker who can pimp roll through the ghetto of league two.

Besides, according to Marx we're all alienated in capitalist society and I don't see why Scott Spencer should be a exception to this.

100% correct there ESB!

I think we are taking into account our feelings as football fans, I am VERY guilty of it.
PS isn't the type of manager to just play who he likes most.
If you play **** you get dropped simple as that!
As Blair and Corr haven't failed, then I suppose there is no real need to change it up top.
Prosser was awful so he was dropped. I keep my faith with PS, however much I want Scott to play.

Please with the news, Still do believe that Paterson or Spencer should get more of a run out to be honest.

Hopefully Jarvis can bang in a few goals at Hereford.

UTB! :support:

If you play *** you get dropped - Blair and Corr are still playing???????????
Paterson scored two goals against Bristol City and got dropped - please explain?
Blair and Corr haven't failed - are you having a giraffe? They are two of the poorest strikers I think I can remember at Roots Hall.

Bottom line is if it wasn't for Anthony Grant we would be bottom of L2 - ditching three strikers, keep two donkeys and signing an 18 year old kid just doesn't do it for me.

I really hope the Sturrock revolution works - but so far I just don't know.

If we lose to Hereford tomorrow the hatchets will be out.

How long have you been going? :D

Also, on the flip side, if we hadnt self destructed in 3 games, we could be top.

Still very early days.

Whilst we'd all like a 'proven' scorer to come, the whole point of Jarvis coming in is due to his pace, something which not one of our striker possesses. I don't care if he's 18 or 28, he's got pace, which is what we need. So what if he's young like Paterson and Spencer. He has pace, they don't. Hence why he's come in even though they're fit and available. People appear to be missing the point.

Exactly, he offers us something we need. It's tough enough to find a 'proven' striker anyway let alone in our current financial position. Striker's become proven by taking the opportunity that comes their way.

Pleased to get Jarvis, Cardiff have developed a habit of producing quality youngsters in recent years, so here's to hoping NJ is one of them.

Did Tilson never bring in a striker over the players we already had? Of course he did. Does this happen at every club in the land? Yes. Paterson & Spencer have had several months and opportunities (both in games & in trianing) to prove to Sturrock they deserve a place. This will happen throughout their careers whether that's here or elsewhere and if it "alienates" them they'll need to man up or find another profession. As NZamba says it's not a counselling service...

Brilliant. Just brilliant. :D

Corr has had injury problems yet still has 3 goals in 6 games. That's pretty good going in my book.

should be a gd signing, because jarvis should give us pace which to be honest we really dnt have up front especially as sturrock is playing corr and sturrock who are both seen to be hold up players which i find isnt working well. i think a gd hold up player in corr or sturrock nd then maybe the pace of jarvis could be key for goals because granty cant keep geting our goals.

Was pleased to read the write up on last night's Q&A, Luggy and Widdrington are no mugs so let's give this lad a chance if they see fit to sign him.

Clearly they don't rate Pato, Screech or Harry and let's not forget they work with them every day on the training pitch...

What is it with people slagging off Corr. He wins plenty of headers, brings people into play, scores 3 in 6, wouldnt mind that over a season. What do you people want. As far as Blair goes, he isnt the best weve had but he is certainly better than the likes of Revell or Harrold in recent years. in brings a lot more to the team than people seem to see. as for spencer and patterson they are just more examples of desperate tilson signings and lets face it paterson only came here as part of the barny deal and spencer was a shot in the dark that hasnt worked. PS is a very experienced manager and successful with it, people must give him time and believe. i cant understand how negative so many people on here are.

I don't understand the Corr bashing either. I wasn't expecting much when he arrived, but for me he's looked the most capable targetman we've had in many a year. He does the job far better than Revell or Harrold ever did.

Gutted with this. I Cannot believe that Sturrock's 'find' is an 18 year old kid who hasn't played a first team game yet.

I am absolutely gutted for Spencer and Paterson - what have they done wrong? Not given the chance, but when played both looked lively and capable goals at this level. This has been brewing for some time, for Paterson to score two goals against Bristol City and then find himself on the bench behind Corr and Blair absolutely stinks.

How Blair Sturrock gets a game ahead of either Spencer or Paterson I will never know - I will say it, nepotism, the worse front line I have seen at Southend for a long, long time.

I hope both Screech and Pato find new homes, and a manager and club that want them, appreciate them and give them their opportunity and don't play donkey's in front of them!

Sad:(

I hope the lad turns out well for us, however I am compeltely and utterly underwhelmed!

I cannot believe that we bring in an 18 year kid when we've already got Spencer, Paterson and Crawford desperate for games. If it had been a recognised striker then fine, but he isn't.

Is Crawford still out on loan? Paterson signed a 2 and a half year deal six months ago, stayed with the club when he had offers in the summer, has been on the bench since scoring two against Bristol City - I just don't get it? Spencer scored what, 5 in four games at the end of last season - why hasn't got any pitch time?

I understand new managers and coaches coming in and setting up what they want. What I do not understand is bringing in carthorses like Corr and Blair to the detriment of our up and coming players?

Sorry but for me relying on an 18 year old kid just doesn't do it. And if I was Spencer and especially Paterson I'd want every penny owed before I even considered moving on.

You two really must be careful. You're going to get repetitive strain injury from writing the same post again and again. How can you be upset that we are bringing in a striker with pace - something we haven't had since Theo Robinson left? Why would anyone lament the fact that we are adding a fifth striker to our squad - one who is making the bench in a championship side? If he's good enough, he'll play.
Travelling Blue - why all the hate for this young player when he hasn't even played yet?
Mr Lloyd - Nepotism? You're the one who appears to be related to the Paterson family....
