They have had no chance to prove it this season!

Well Sturrock seems them both in training and the reserves I am guessing so I think they have probably had enough chance. A loan spell might do both good.

I personally felt Spencer was too lightweight last season and I have seen nothing to change that.

"He is very greedy, hardly passes when he does he only passed expecting a one-two. But is starting to pass more in training so he says.

He has a lot of pace and i mean he is REALLY fast, won every 100 metres in Sports day, he's strong, can pick out a pass and has a hatful of tricks. Definetly knows where the net as you'd expect from a Striker"

Interesting fact: Nathaniel's move to Roots Hall is the first youth loan across international borders that the English FA has processed.

Interesting fact 2: He is actually English (I think) but speaks fluent Welsh.

I hope the lad turns out well for us, however I am compeltely and utterly underwhelmed!

I cannot believe that we bring in an 18 year kid when we've already got Spencer, Paterson and Crawford desperate for games. If it had been a recognised striker then fine, but he isn't.

Is Crawford still out on loan? Paterson signed a 2 and a half year deal six months ago, stayed with the club when he had offers in the summer, has been on the bench since scoring two against Bristol City - I just don't get it? Spencer scored what, 5 in four games at the end of last season - why hasn't got any pitch time?

I understand new managers and coaches coming in and setting up what they want. What I do not understand is bringing in carthorses like Corr and Blair to the detriment of our up and coming players?

Sorry but for me relying on an 18 year old kid just doesn't do it. And if I was Spencer and especially Paterson I'd want every penny owed before I even considered moving on.

Pretty agree with all of that. Being a bit harsh on Corr though he has more about him than BS IMO.

Think it might be time for sections of our support to just accept the fact that Spencer and Paterson aren't doing enough to warrant inclusion in the side at this moment in time. Sturrock and Widdrington have made it clear, not just with their selections but with their comments last night, and the vast majority of those who have seen them in the reserves suggest the same.

The more I think about it the more I am stupified by this!

If PS doesn't rate Crawford, Spencer or Paterson then he must do his utmost to get the lads out the club and onto pastures new. Crawford I believe signed a one year contract as did Spencer, so they could hang around and see out their contracts playing Reserves the odd time on the bench and hope to get a contract elsewhere in January or next year. Paterson though has a full two years left on his contract, do we pay that off and let him go?

I'm very bemused! If we had signed a well know striker who could possibly get 15/20 goals a season then I supposed like most supporters I would have said, that's life this just confuses me!

Let me be the first to say "This boy will be mustard"

You watch...

Which is fair enough I just don't see how an unproven 18 year old striker is the answer to our problems, which is conceding too many goals at the moment not scoring them!

I can't accept that Spencer isn't good enough, because he proved he was good enough for League 1 last year! It just winds me up really!
Fair enough they see him in training, they select the team, if their selection succeeds then brilliant!

You mean like he alluded to last night?

I didn't see they weren't good enough, I said they weren't doing enough to warrant selection. Whether that's down to a lack of confidence, form, acceptance of the new system or even something more sinister isn't the point here...

With four centre backs and Barker on the book already, that's something that needs to be addressed internally. Jarvis has been bought in because he offers something that the other strikers dont; pace.

How nice it will be to see a striker with raw pace again. Who was the last pacey striker we had? Theo?

Hopefully it will allow us to keep the ball on the deck a bit more and look for balls over the top and inbetween defenders. Something that has been missing for a long time...

The more I think about it, the more I am particularly disappointed in this firstly, for Scott Spencer, who really showed some passion and flair at the end of last season and was a player I was delighted to see sign on again for this season.

Even more disappointing is that young Paterson joined, stayed with us when just about every other rat was leaving the sinking ship. Turned down offers in the summer to get his games with us and it now seems that we've binned him as well.

The timing of this seems very strange. Why not tell them before the transfer window closed that they could go? Why wait until just about every other club has it's quota of signings, loans or perms and then tell them?

Thought there was a bit more loyalty about us than this.

Just have to trust Luggys judgement I guess. After all he has 5 promotions on his CV, which is 5 more than anyone on here has (excluding Football Manager).

Why exclude FM? I'm quite frankly shocked that you do not take my FA Cup winning Hartlepool side of the late 90s into consideration when judging the worth of my posts.

You're right though, trust Sturrock on this one.

That is basically how I feel, the only player to show us loyalty and actual desire to play for us in a long time has been done over! Good luck to the new lad, but I just feel a bit deflated aswell as happy for the new guy!
