Nathaniel's move to Roots Hall is the first youth loan across international borders that the English FA has processed.

Interesting tidbit there...

Seems like a good acquisition. Let's hope he hits the ground running and we can extend it.

No stats on him as such, looking through various pages. Makes him an "unknown quantity", which I think could be better for us than an "out of sorts" striker.

It does say that he was Cardiffs topscorer in the U-18s last season, so he knows where the onion bag is. Might be just the tonic we need to add some life to our stock of "holding strikers"

SOUTHEND LAND JARVIS
Posted on: Fri 24 Sep 2010
Southend United has landed Cardiff City youngster Nathaniel Jarvis on a one month loan.

Good news!

Speaking to southendunited.co.uk this afternoon Sturrock said: "He is a player I have seen a couple of times.

He did well as its not afternoon yet!

According to barnablue, you can tell someones not good enough during the kickabout before the game

Anyway not going to get caught up on all of that!

Looks like Cardiff really rate him, hope he absolutely smashes it!

(Cardiff's forum makes us all look like MENSA members!)

They have had no chance to prove it this season!

Spencer has failed to impress with his cameo appearences, and looked totally out of his depth against Luton's reserves. Paterson is very fragile and slow, and flatters to decieve

No real surprise, but very welcome never the less. When I saw news of the four players on trial, earlier in the week, I indicated that Jarvis was the one I found most interesting. I would imagine that an extension to the loan, perhaps for the whole season has already been negociated, if it works out well,. Seems worthwhile taking a chance on............a big lad who knows where the back of the net is. Anyone who believed that we were going to sign a proven, experienced goal scorer in a rich vein of form is a bit deluded. It was always going to be a youngster or someone recovering from injury, who needed game time............................... and I don't think the intention was to sign someone who we may have had to carry for the first month or so until he had reached satisfactory fitness levels.

Well as he is only here for a month initally. He will start every game I would suggest, probably alongside Corr or Sturrock.

I think Pato, Spencer, Crawford et al will be shipped out on loan and sold in January.

I do agree, although if you are goal scorer type player and you are being played on the wing and you come on for 10 minutes when your team are losing, then it is a bit impossible really!
I just think Sturrock is making a mistake, just like I did when we got rid of Hooper, Charlie Mac and Kightly, but I'm just a fan so hey ho!

Cardiff have produced a number of very highly rated (and profitable) youngsters in recent times, not least Aaron Ramsey & Chris Gunter, plus they have one or two currently in their first team, let's hope Jarvis is another.
