Some Club Staff Salaries Late/Embargo Chat - now resolved (for now)

Sorry to be dim but is Matt Slater meaning the problem (embargo) is about to be rectified (as in cleared) or is he meaning the reason is about to be rectified (as in, it's about to be confirmed we were under, and in fact still are under an embargo).

Well, I’m assuming that because the guy writes for The Athletic he know what “rectifies” means. Therefore if the reasons why we couldn’t sign players are being rectified, they are being “put right, corrected”. Hooray!

Agreed, that's why I mentioned I may be being dim. Just wanted to know how others read it.

No not at all.

This was directed at those on here that have been asking for "Proof"

As you say Matt is up there and this is very timely from him.
No doubt you are right. Forgetting 3 signings is unfortunate and we all make mistakes. As you suggest a legitimate journalist so to be taken more seriously than the array of "transfer news" time-wasters.

Chris Phillips has posted a story about us being interested in Fonguck too, which usually preceeds the player signing. Quite aside from the fact that he signed a contract 2 weeks ago, but Chris can only print what he gets told. The club almost got its wish of hiding it.

CP is generally pretty "onside" with the club so he doesn't very often stick his neck out with these type of stories. I appreciate his honesty in his article/resume about the previous game and isn't afraid to call players out from time to time but he doesn't do it as much with off field issues.

Why doesn't he just say sorry I might not have been clear on the time frame should have said last 3 weeks. Rather than ignore your question and answer another one. Its what a politician would do.

That said the report certainly rings very true. Cashflow issues. Ron is asked for money "short notice". Can't generate cash short notice needs to raise against assets which takes time/legals (even Ron has explained this before). Money now provided to make problem go away. Side effect Ron jumping up and down about cashflow forecasting/budgets, Tom saying we need a proper Head of Finance and I know just the person and hey presto on that score. it does all rather hang together doesn't it.

Yep, lets hope with the new Head of Finance, then these issues may at least happen less frequently if at all. Here's wishing anyway.

So now I wonder, will the club address the embargo again, and even more so now it's lifted, because last time we managed to force a club statement out of them:

I know they don't have to address it, but I feel like it has to be, along with the unpaid wages.

Sounds like Matt's hinting the umbongo was the reason for not signing Mussa, which would be counter to what we were told. Who knows, hopefully the "about to be rectified" part is accurate.

I've not seen anything about the umbongo from Chris Phillips which is a strange one.
Probably doesn’t want to upset the apple cart.
