The extend delay was often blamed on 'the banks closing for business' during the financial crisis. That, to a large extent is now over, and 'the banks' are very mch open for business, and lending. So Ron, what on earth is your next excuse? Surely we deserve an update??

I will give you an update, new stadium???? ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha. Ron can not deliver on this. He has ot been able to for years now, what will change in the future....

Evening Echo article from 27th February...

Mr Martin said he would "Receive final bids from both companies this week"

“We will then announce the successful developer or developers"

"The club board and Sainsbury’s will make the decision before we announce it in the next fortnight"

“We cannot afford to delay beyond May. If we do there will be inflation back in the construction market.”

What a load of old **** Ronald. TWELVE weeks down the line and NOTHING....AGAIN. For about the 50th time...

Give it up, clear off and let someone with the money and knowhow get it done properly. Please, just go.

Oh and any chance of an AGM or are you waiting to create one of your famous **** sarnies to calm the "dissenters" first.

Ahhh thats better. I will now go back under my rock and await the replies defending the guy. Despite it being SEVEN & A HALF YEARS since the original application went in and not a single "sod has been sewn"....how many other grounds have been built since?.....plenty.

We castigate politicians for telling barefaced lies but we have hung on to the Ron 'Dream' for SEVEN & A HALF YEARS and are no nearer to a new stadium, when are we going to say enough is enough lets start again with our club?

That will probably be last on the to do list. The council wouldn't be happy if they forced them out and work on Fossetts couldn't start anyway.
Who knows what is holding all this up, but lack of money is the obvious answer.
Ron Martin keeps on buying time with stadium build will start in a few months, but I think we're all fed up with it now, and only seeing is believing.

It is one of the last things on the list. They are not a high priority at this time as they are in one of the last areas that need to be developed. And, the on site workers will need to go somewhere to get something to eat :winking:

Providing the Echo correctly quoted him then RM has to explain why the May deadline hasn't been met or even his supporters will have trouble justifying his (non) actions. Of course, he hasn't said that the development won't start post May, only that it will be more expensive.

Any idea who?
Please don't suggest the Barron Knights, they are living in cloud Cricko land.

How long can this go on? My fear is one day all the Sainsburys money will run out and if Ron really is propping up the club with his own money then that will soon run out. The future of the club doesn't look good right now if work doesn't start on the stadium soon

It seems to me in recent years the managers and players have promised much and delivered nothing. RM may not have got the first shovel in the ground (I thought he had until late spring circa June 20th) but for someone who is supposedly skint he has put a lot of wages in a lot of pockets without a single return in terms of recent success.

I fully expect the new stadium to go ahead, as and when matters allow, and I hope that will act as a springboard for onfield success.

We have the support to go on to better things and whatever division we are in we will be a bigger club than the likes of Scunthorpe or Fleetwood who got promotion for and on behalf of both their fans.

How can anybody show any interest in something that up to this point is not for sale..try selling your house before putting it on the market , I doubt you would get much interest.

Actually, I managed to sell our family house in Eastwood before it was officially put on the market........though I know what you mean (I think).:whistling:

"Banks lending and very much open for business" You really sure about that mate?

As I stated on another thread ,being in the construction industry ,no signs are out there to suggest any start(unless anyone know different ?). Without a contractor being named the signs are not good. How long can this game of lies about start dates go on

The phrase "terminological inexactitude" could have been invented for Ron Martin.

This never ending saga has to come to a halt sometime. Is there a cut of date, where RM has to go right back to the start again for permission to build, or does this farce just keep rolling on.

I think that Ron does this deliberately to give us something to discuss (again and again) when it's in between seasons and no transfer movement is happening. Thank you Ron for keeping us amused/disgusted/incredulous (delete as appropriate)!!

I'm not sure that really backs up your argument. Firstly, it seems to be in America rather than here, and secondly:

Construction financing, meanwhile, is still in the early stages of its recovery and remains a weakly contested segment of the market

So, even if it includes the UK, it accepts it is still in the early stages of recovery. It's hardly in full swing.

For clarity, I don't know one way or the other, it just seems that that article doesn't really prove anything.
