Exactamundo. This is what I was saying in my post further up. Big-time Charlie's. They didn't do enough last season to warrant CCC football, we're not IN the CCC. Therefore, all they deserve is a decent L1 wage packet; no more than that. If they want CCC money, they should have got us back up there shouldn't they? They don't deserve CCC football and they don't deserve CCC wages.

Im glad to see others anger levels are rising! Great point you made there! He came from Barnet, stopped off in Southend for a season and is like hey Ron thanks for the ride Im off because you won't pay me what I am demanding. Id be happy with half a mill too.

If I knew that I had the opportunity to earn more money from another jobs then I think I would have the right to ask for more money for the job I'm doing. This thing about loyalty is getting annoying now, hes been here for a season why should he have so much loyalty?

He's not a CCC player until he proves without any doubt that he can cut it there. People were saying Gutts would thrive in the CCC when we got promoted, and he was shoite. Look where he is now.

I can see your point of view, but ultimately he is worth what somebody is prepared to pay (for) him.

Yes, but only within reason. If you ask for a massive pay rise and your demand doesn't fit into you company's financial structure or they don't think you're worth it, they'll tell where to go too, just like SUFC have done. SUFC have already offered 'substantial' pay rises and the players are still demanding even bigger wages, probably more than we can afford. It's a bit of a different situation to the one you described. It's not that simple.

well the minimum those players will already be on is 1k a week which is 48k a year, if i got payed that to play football i wouldnt complain at all. the new contracts those players would of got would of been bloody good as everyone has noted they were 3 of our best players. if they are here for money then respect to ron telling them to f.o. its all gonna backfire on bailey, he has two years left on his contract so if we dont get the right offer he could be spending a long time on the sidelines and thats all money grabbers deserve.

Well he came from Barnet not Real Madrid so I assume he arrived at Roots Hall this season with a much improved income. He has a great season then has the cheek to hold Ron to ransom over his wages? Not right IMO.

I have just moved jobs in the city for reasons other than money but a great side positive to the other aspects of the job is that I got a substantial payrise which I am very grateful for. If I had a really good 6 months here and thought I was performing really well I still would not have the cheek to march into HR and demand that they pay me more or Im off - they would be like Ciao then love. I am grateful to get the payrise I got and wouldn't dream of asking for more not for a long time. I would show them a bit of loyalty before even considering something like that.

I think I'd feel a lot more comfortable about this if the quotes about the situation had come from Tilly rather than Ron. Of course, contract negotiations fall into the remit of the chairman but the understanding of what players are about, how they are best motivated and handled must come from the management.

I am concerned that Ron is using bullying, business tactics in a situation that needs much more delicate handling and man-management. He's undoubtedly called the agents' (and possibly players') bluff on this but I really hope it doesn't back-fire on us.

Don't think he should be showing more loyalty, but DO think he ought to be a bit more realistic. I think he's shown exactly why he was a L2 player at times, not least in the last couple of games. The final comment in your post is what sums it up though - he's been here for a season - so why should he suddenly expect so much more than has already been offered?

In any job if you're relatively new (a year is still fairly new in my book), then any sign of faith in you by way of an increment/bonus or whatever financial incentive should be welcomed, not thrown back in the face of your employer saying "I'm better than that, gimme more!"

Not interested in him now, he can sling his hook.

Im actually quite dissapointed in Ron.

At the end of the day were building a new stadium which is championship, low prem standard, and in order to get that far we need to pay championship wages on average im guesing thats around 6k! and im sure the trio were asking for alot less than that and in order for us to improve we need to keep our best players so selling these three who are all decent ages aswell its truly shocking.
