SMS Bailey, Clarke and Francis on the list

F**k 'em if they don't wanna be hear. No-one's bigger than the club.

Sorry, I just can't understand all the sympathy for them.

As I said, in the grand scheme of things, they didn't achieve a lot last season, and no-one turned up for the club's biggest single game since the play-off final. The club is where it is (L1) on merit. Therefore, so are the players. They are not in the Championship, they didn't do well enough to get into the Championship, therefore all they deserve is L1 wages, albeit upper-band. Furthermore, the club didn't go up, won't get CCC TV rights money, and therefore probably hasn't got the money to offer much more than good L1 wages. It would be a gamble offering them inflated pay packets when there's no guarantee that they will do well and go up next season. If we stay down next season having given these players what they want, then the finances will suffer even more.

If Maher and Black were on what I think they were on in terms of wages, then a fair bit of the budget has been freed up, and if Bailey or Clarke were offered near to what i think Maher was on, then those are pretty substantial pay rises. If the players want more, then they don't want to play for the club enough. Simple as. We want hungry players here, not ones who demand more than what the club can offer despite having been offered substantial pay rises. It's not acceptable. Fair enough that they want to get as much money as they can, but they won't get that much better elsewhere because they're not good enough to go to a club that will pay them much more.

If they are demanding big wages, then they can get lost. We need hungry players who want to play for the club, not money-grabbers. RM has done well. We can't be held to ransom. It's disrespectful and he won't allow the club to get into the state that it did a decade ago. That is brilliant chairmanship. No-one is bigger or more imprtant than the club, it's state and it's future state.

As I said, there;s every chance that it's posturing and the players will backtrack, realising what idiots they are. If not, then so long, thanks for your efforts and I hope you get the pay that you seem to think you're worth elsewhere. We can find replacements, I'm sure of that.

I'm worried that after tasting success with SUFC Ron might have one eye on the approaching winter Olympics.

I am concerned he might be about to reach over the top, go for gold and make one last bid for Olympic glory.

Not convinced?

I drove past his house last night and I could have sworn I saw someone mowing the lawn wearing a Lake Placid 1980 GB team tracksuit.

Make of this what you will.

I fear he may be a little on the young side to understand that!

You feared correct.

Well played Ron but I believe in this case he shood of done anything he could to keep them players. How in the world are we going to replace them! Cannot believe hes come out with this without any replacements on hand.. which i doubt there are any at the moment. Disaster.

Don't blame yourself, typical female trait.

For the record you are a sexist pig telling me I have no placein football because I am female (check my rep). I dont care about the neg rep but the comment is whats peed me off. Who do you think you are? So shall all the women leave the board then and we can have it all men just to make you happy?

To think that we the hard working loyal fans through thick and thin, basically pay these Greedy Bast ards their privalaged wages .

Maybe they should go out on proper work experience for one week for a wake up call, as most days it consists of two hours training and the rest of the day off for them .What a joke .

I,m afraid to say that the Greed which started in the premiership has now filtered down into the lower divisions .

Bang on there.

Actually have to agree with this. They don't know how good they've got it!

Im with Ron .. I'll happily accept a struggle for survival next season than a load of league one players demanding Champ salarys and dictating terms to the club.. Big Ron had fronted up, lets see just how much these players fancy life away from Southend

I think they have got far to big for there boots and agree with Southend Lady's comments mostly..Ron is spot on with not being held to ransom.. If they don't want to play for us ..get rid..

I think your argument can be reversed though, isn't it Ron who's getting too big for his boots? All the players are doing is privately negotiating their futures for themselves and their families, I don't see a problem with that.

Are the players really holding Ron to ransom? Surely he's holding them to ransom by publicly putting them on the transfer list!

There wasn't a hurry for the players who aren't out of contract to sign, negotiations could've resolved this.

Without any Championship experience, I think we'll be lucky to get more than 750k, even if he does have 2 years left.

This is the point though isn't it? I think he may have got a little big for his boots, FFS where was he last season?

BARNET! And after one season with us he thinks he's suddenly much, much better than that? Grow up Bailey, you ain't all that. I'd be happy with half a mill, ecstatic in fact.

Its fine for them to negotiate their futures for their families. But hold on, they get paid far more than the rest of us do and the majority of us work 5 days a week 8 hours a day. What they need to remember is that they are L1 players. As has been said enough times - they didn't turn up for the biggest game in 2 years and are then surprised that Ron won't cough up? Why shouuld we pay over the odds for players? They are getting above their stations thats for sure. This isnt the Premiership or La Liga for gods sake! Its actually quite embarrassing really.

I think it is difficult to argue either way with any authority without knowing how much these players are on at the moment and how much they were being offered, in comparison to other players in the squad.
