SMS Bailey, Clarke and Francis on the list

On the contrary, I think this is exactly the right way to handle it, if handled it must be - Ron has to take the hard man role PRECISELY because Tilly has to do the day to day handling of the players. This way if the players do change their minds, it is the distant figure of RM that they will feel the resentment towards, and Tilly is seen to have clean hands in all this.

lets hope he doesnt have to wash his hands in public.

To think that we the hard working loyal fans through thick and thin, basically pay these Greedy Bast ards their privalaged wages .

Maybe they should go out on proper work experience for one week for a wake up call, as most days it consists of two hours training and the rest of the day off for them .What a joke .

I,m afraid to say that the Greed which started in the premiership has now filtered down into the lower divisions .

Totally agree with you mate, football has been ruined by money :'(

This story has really worried me. I dont know what to think!! I dont blame Ron for wanting to not be held to ransom, but I hope this a statement to those 3, and they will then sign the contract offered to them, rather than the end. If it carries on at this rate, I may think about asking for a refund on my season ticket

Oh I dunno, a couple of public crucifixions in the centre circle HAS to concentrate the minds of the other players and lead to improved performances, surely?

I'm aiming to ride out the shock element of today's statement, see where we are on the 7th July, who's gone, who's stayed, who's been brought in. Once the dust has settled and we've got past the knee jerk stage, then we can see where we are and if there's any need to panic. (I also believe Kevin Kyle was at the training ground earlier this week too), which would tend to suggest that we are also progressing on the squad strengthening front too.

It'll all come out in the wash so to speak.

This news totally took me by surprise this afternoon especially after Francis stating he was ready to sign recently.

I hope cooler head will prevale and the 3 will remain with us and our tilt at promotion next season.

However I do agree with Ron, if they don't want to play for Southend then go and let us replace them with player who do.

I think this is a very rash move, and one I can't ever remember happening before at SUFC (at least not on this scale).

I think those who are saying that the players don't want to play for SUFC are probably wrong. These players aren't neccessarily saying they don't want to play for us anymore - they are saying they want a better deal. It's called negotiation and eveyerone is perfectly entitled to do it whatever their profession.

As for the loyalty card, well one player who was often cited as being loyal was Stuart Pearce, but he has often said that if Nottm Forest didn't pay the going rate he would have left - and quite right too. We have to remember that in the vast majority of cases the players at a club are not fans of the club like we all are. Why should they feel the affinity that we do?

As long as a player continues to do his best while at a club and is not whingeing to the press all the time in an effort to stir things up, I have no problem with them trying to get the best deal they can.

I think this is a huge mistake this early in the close season - I do of course hope I am proved wrong.

Asking to double your wages after one season is taking the **** I'm sorry!

All three of them are awesome players but I think Uncle Ron was right with what he did. Agree with BrettieAngell and that it was taking the ****. Agents are starting to be a menace in this game nowadays.
