ShrimperMoan thread.

I'm happy to keep it going. I will moan about how we looked so poor against Barnet with poor selections and set up, yet doing what so many fans have asked for has brought about a positive result. I hope KM is going to adopt the new style and not, as so often after a positive result, revert to type. Many of us have said we are better than our performances and today is further vindication.

But but but Maher is too stubborn to change formation. He doesn’t drop his favourites in Miley & Husin…

Least we can all celebrate a thoroughly deserved three points against them lot.

The sarcasm of that reply is as ridiculous as it is incredulous. Oh and I understand Miley is injured not just dropped. You know full well how reluctant Maher has been to change and how poor we have been because of it. Also players are hung out to dry, told they are not good enough and made to look poor, well they certainly showed what they can do when given the right chance. A lot of fans have criticised Maher's decisions and rightly. Let's just hope he has seen the light.

Sounds a bit counter intuitive but with Pepple gone and no goal scorers (apart from a full back!) Maher has decided to attack (well for one game at least anyway) so that they can find their scoring boots

On your first sentence.. Well he has been too stubborn before today!

Thankfully he’s seen sense, tried something different and it paid dividends. Fair play to him for that, but he’s been too stubborn for too long IMO.

Maher at last saw sense and changed the set up, proving exactly what so many claimed was necessary. Would be nice if some of the more vocal Maherites admitted this instead of voicing their usual self justifying views.

Since the weekend I have found navigating the zone very slow. On my computer, tablet and mobile phone it takes ages to load up the selected page. I know a Baltic fibre optic cable was damaged yesterday but other websites are fine so I am wondering if there is some kind of maintenance taking place which slows things down. Are any other zoners having the same problem?

Has Kev read our threads and decided to act. Probably thought with our more attacking team we'd get hammered and he'd prove his point. Now he will be at a loss which way to go.

My slight moan is that we should be careful in underestimating the knowledge of fans/supporters

I wont list all the many reasons why they might be very knowledgeable

But for fun lets bare in Mind Gerrard Hollier was a schoolteacher who took up Managing based on a bet. The Great ? 5 would cups man Perriera was a shoe salesman who coached his local youth club, Villa Boas, Beenhakker, Advocaat, Sarri, Advoccat and many more. barely played Famously limited Pro experience for Wenger and Mourinho who sacked himself for being rubbish at football

In fact Bobby Robson when managing at Porto l and liked the 16 year old Boas who got chatting to him, as he was staying in the same Apartments. Robson liked him a lot and used him as a bit of an interpreter, and then gave him a job in Portos Observation Department . Robson subsequently helped the lad through coaching qualifications. Boas Went on to great things but originally didnt kick a ball

You will have your own views on these Managers but it is legitimately claimable they are amongst the Worlds best ever

A number of great Managers were highly astute observers and Man Managers but never played

Ive read some excellent observations on our club, performances, strategy and so on on Shrimperzone, extremely insightful !

So I dont like it much when there is a kind of patronising inference t at times hat we kind of know nothing and the Management Group Know it all so not really for us to question or criticise

It feels like Legion the number of times Zoners here have called on us for example to go with 3 upfront to get on the front foot, support Bonne and improve our press, again Indeed For months , thats been observed or have I just imagined that

In a considerate way Chris Phillips has just been intimating the same thing about 3 upfront, He also said Dagenham's big downfall was their inability to play the ball out from the back three . Go figure?

A good point well made. There are terrace fans that have been watching, and maybe playing local football, longer than many current managers have been alive. They have informed opinion but lack the opportunity to prove their thoughts by never picking the team and set up.
I'm not sure they know more about football than say KM. Some might but, they have a different perspective or interpretation of what they see. Kev is paid to take the responsibility of setting up and selecting as he sees fit and if mistakes are made, I seriously doubt they are with malicious intent. He firmly believes in his way and was employed to put his brand on things.
The biggest problem is the results and performances are not supporting his way of doing things. The second half against FGR and the game at Dagenham have shown how the forward line can be deployed effectively. We have a team that is better than it has shown at times. Too many times.
I hope KM is going to give the Dagenham set up another go. Some say that maybe the opposition set up allowed us to play that way. I say make others change to try and nullify us and not keep thinking we have to worry so much about them. Front foot football takes the game to the opposition making us proactive and forcing them to be reactive.
Well done to players v Daggers and the coaching staff. KM talks about all pulling together well that has to include coaches and players looking to be in unison.

A large degree of football is about opinions, perspectives and interpretations, so supporters should never be ignored, but the UEFA Pro Licence that Maher has makes him super qualified.

That, plus his loyalty, plus the fact that I don't think he's had a fair crack of the whip over a summer and pre-season, means that I feel he should be afforded trust for the time being.

Right on cue as expected even down to the like. So predictable.

Nonsense that is well up to standard, I was of course referring to the expected knee jerk reaction from two of the most vociferous Maherites. No surprise at the likes for your post, only to be expected.
I’m a confirmed Maherite and I’m sick to death with the recent vitriol of so called ‘fellow fans’.

Silenced his many doubters as a player. Despite continued allegations even now of crab Maher successive managers built a double promotion team around him as captain. I’ll trust their expert views I think.

Late for a wedding due to a certain football game.

Perfrormed miracles getting a threadbare squad to the fringes of the playoffs.

2 defeats in the last eleven.

The man is simply dripping in blue blood and yet there are those that still question a manager that has yet to have an unencumbered preseason.

KM makes mistakes. He is not God, but he isn’t far off it. Let him build a squad, get off his back and get off your high horses. It’s now gone beyond nauseous.

Maher, like all managers, will be lauded for his successes and judged for his failures. I do not doubt his loyalty or his credentials to be the gaffer. I want him to succeed but, I will reserve the right to question/criticise decisions when things clearly do not work. What's the point of a forum if we don't? Perhaps SZ should become as sterile as modern football and only allow 'pat on the back' posts? You are clearly in one camp with regard what has gone on and others are in varying camps elsewhere. I completely accept your right to opine and it causes me no nausea just because it sometimes differs with mine.
It comes down to differing views from various parties and everyone wants to be right. Personally I prefer to read all different views because sometimes it leaves me more informed and broad minded. If I only listened to myself I would get very bored, very quickly.

I must admit, as much as you are sick to death of how some of us fans feel, likewise we are the same with you guys who can only see good in the situation and put down our views. We are right to be worried, as we are in an incredibly low position in the league, many times myself and fellow shrimpers, remember we all follow the same team, and we get grief for questioning the management.
Bonne, glad for him but bloody hell 1st goal in 24 games, and other blues goal scorers don't get a look in.
Football being terrible dull, and hard to watch and we are wrong for not being happy with it.
Hopefully....please God that we start a run of wins and good exciting football, forgotten what it was like to enjoy my Footie.
Let's all have our own views on here without getting into a slanging match, we all see things differently, life would be boring if we were all lemmings.
