ShrimperMoan thread.

Absolutely nothing wrong with differing views, as you say @onceknownasrab, it can be informative. But views need to be posted in such a way that they are not sticking it to all those that don't agree with them. Just because I don't necessarily agree with a post does not make me a Maherite, what that sort of twaddle does is make me wonder whether it's worth replying at all. I've watched more and more long term posters that have either just stopped posting all together, or posting very seldom. I have no definitive reasons why that should be be, but I do have some ideas why. However, that is not for the here and now. The here and now seems to be that you are one side of an argument or the other, and woe betide you if you have an opposite view on Maher.

I must admit, as much as you are sick to death of how some of us fans feel, likewise we are the same with you guys who can only see good in the situation and put down our views. We are right to be worried, as we are in an incredibly low position in the league, many times myself and fellow shrimpers, remember we all follow the same team, and we get grief for questioning the management.
Bonne, glad for him but bloody hell 1st goal in 24 games, and other blues goal scorers don't get a look in.
Football being terrible dull, and hard to watch and we are wrong for not being happy with it.
Hopefully....please God that we start a run of wins and good exciting football, forgotten what it was like to enjoy my Footie.
Let's all have our own views on here without getting into a slanging match, we all see things differently, life would be boring if we were all lemmings.
@Leeboy and myself have often wished @* ORM * would become a Lemming , as we know what happens to them. :Winking:

So childish memes about pots and kettles are ok but to laugh at such juvenalia is not.

I'm assuming you missed the last part of my post as you haven't quoted it in your reply. That last part makes it clear that I was referring to both sides of an argument.

The last part of your post raises questions about long time posters no longer posting, no mention of both sides of an argument

Your last comments indeed make it clear but the somewhat enigmatic remarks about the reasons long time posters no longer contribute seems to suggest it is because they are put off by anyone querying the party line that Maher is not to be questioned.

You can draw whatever conclusions if you want, that's your prerogative.

Maybe some of it is down to the fact we are in the worst position in the league of our history. Some people it really puts them off so they choose to stay away. This isn’t an SZ thing, it’s a club thing. I imagine there are some fans who aren’t going because results aren’t great or the football style isn’t to their taste.

Whatever it is, when and it is when we start having that success again and get out of this cesspit of a league the regulars will return. Both to Roots Hall and SZ, sometimes you have to have a thick skin to put up with everything Southend United. It’s been a tiresome 5-8 years with not really much to celebrate on the pitch.

Football is a funny old game, at least we don’t have to put up with the Arsenal Fan TV bollocks! Idiots screaming at a screen because they’re 2nd in the Premier League and wanting their manager gone.

Whilst this season is not a right off yet, it would be good to finish it on a high even if that is missing out on the play offs. Going into next season with a positive outlook and Kev unshackled to build a team to get us back into League Two! Then you’ll see the regulars return, you’ll see Roots Hall rocking and full of positivity, you’ll always get the moaners like me because there is no ****ing hot water or soap in the SE corner toilet. But you just have to either live with it or ignore it.

What needs to stop is the digging from both sides. Maher out crew and the Maher In crew constantly trying to one up each other and making snide remarks and jibs at each other.

@leeblue put up an excellent post about unity. We all need to stick together, respect each other and help push the team back to greatness! This is our opportunity to really do something without the worries of embargo’s, winding up orders or players and staff not being paid. The good times will come, just have to be patient.

Maher, like all managers, will be lauded for his successes and judged for his failures. I do not doubt his loyalty or his credentials to be the gaffer. I want him to succeed but, I will reserve the right to question/criticise decisions when things clearly do not work. What's the point of a forum if we don't? Perhaps SZ should become as sterile as modern football and only allow 'pat on the back' posts? You are clearly in one camp with regard what has gone on and others are in varying camps elsewhere. I completely accept your right to opine and it causes me no nausea just because it sometimes differs with mine.
It comes down to differing views from various parties and everyone wants to be right. Personally I prefer to read all different views because sometimes it leaves me more informed and broad minded. If I only listened to myself I would get very bored, very quickly.
My point isn’t that different views can’t be expressed, simply the manner in which that has been taking place

The thing about forums / internet, people get loud and sometimes personal as they hide behind a keyboard and know they will never meet x,y,z so can be brave
Rewind 35 years you would go to a pub sit around the table, have a few beers argue what’s wrong, disagree, shake your head in disbelief, laugh walk out and come back next match and all forgotten
With modern day advances, it can go and on and fester in peoples minds, who have issues, some can cope but some sadly cannot .
Whether football, politics, books, religions we all have different opinions just try and understand others views, without taking it personal or abusing those who may feel different
Or just like the gambling adverts, if getting too much take a break x

Didn't know where to put this so I've posted it here even though not a moan!
Someone on here already mentioned the golden lion being on the market. Although possibly an expensive solution, it would make possibly one of the best fanzones in not just our argue but possibly the EF!!
Over 3 floors.
Multip!e TV's showing our games and others on the ground floor with food outlets and bars.
Live music out the back with a marquee bar and bbq,
Accessed via the front with (if possible) easy access from the rear area to the car park\ground.
Top floor vip fanzone area where box holders or box visitors and special guests could have a coffee or wine\beer and nibbles. I
Non match days it can accommodate corporate coffee meetings, show away games for fans, accommodate junior blues and other associated club meets.
Income all back into the club.

Only downstairs is let for office/storage use. Maybe only the basement. Almost certainly a non-starter.
