Maybe some of it is down to the fact we are in the worst position in the league of our history. Some people it really puts them off so they choose to stay away. This isn’t an SZ thing, it’s a club thing. I imagine there are some fans who aren’t going because results aren’t great or the football style isn’t to their taste.
Whatever it is, when and it is when we start having that success again and get out of this cesspit of a league the regulars will return. Both to Roots Hall and SZ, sometimes you have to have a thick skin to put up with everything Southend United. It’s been a tiresome 5-8 years with not really much to celebrate on the pitch.
Football is a funny old game, at least we don’t have to put up with the Arsenal Fan TV bollocks! Idiots screaming at a screen because they’re 2nd in the Premier League and wanting their manager gone.
Whilst this season is not a right off yet, it would be good to finish it on a high even if that is missing out on the play offs. Going into next season with a positive outlook and Kev unshackled to build a team to get us back into League Two! Then you’ll see the regulars return, you’ll see Roots Hall rocking and full of positivity, you’ll always get the moaners like me because there is no ****ing hot water or soap in the SE corner toilet. But you just have to either live with it or ignore it.
What needs to stop is the digging from both sides. Maher out crew and the Maher In crew constantly trying to one up each other and making snide remarks and jibs at each other.
@leeblue put up an excellent post about unity. We all need to stick together, respect each other and help push the team back to greatness! This is our opportunity to really do something without the worries of embargo’s, winding up orders or players and staff not being paid. The good times will come, just have to be patient.
