Should the FA allow Smoke Bombs ?

Thanks for your answers, some saying they're illegal which I asked not to be said in my first post...

Anyway what about if they were made so they didn't affect people with breathing problems? Then what would be your answer?

The same 'no' answer for me as they are a complete distraction for both players and fans.

To be honest anything could distract players? Beach balls? Balloons? Even chants!

Distracting players comes quite low down on the reasons why, however, a smoke bomb however does have the ability to stop a game, unlike a beach ball or balloon.

How do you start a fire without a naked flame?!

How about focussing the sun's rays with a magnifying glass, a static spark, an electrical discharge, spontaneous combustion (not human) eg. a compost heap can generate sufficient heat to combust, electrical induction (e.g. through an extension lead uncoiled running excess wattage), a spark from two flints, a car cigarette lighter.

You missed rubbing two dry sticks together...... I guess we can assume that AB wasn't a boy scout

If you think that therefore smoke bombs are fine at a football ground and asthmatics and others with breathing conditions should just not come, then personally I think you're a selfish ****

Not sure where I said either smoke bombs are fine, or that asthmatics shouldn't attend. And I'm more than a little miffed to be accused of being a selfish who-knows-what (something that failed the swear filter so nothing nice I assume) simply for asking if anybody has information about the actual harm and damage done by smoke bombs in countries where their use is more commonplace.

I wasn't calling you that necessarily, it was caveated.

Smoke inhalation is particularly bad for asthmatics (it's bad in general). That's one of the reasons why they're banned in public, and their use is limited.

Don't get your knickers in a twist.

"Should the FA allow Smoke Bombs ?"

Doesn't matter if they do, the FA cannot override the "laws of the land", which given some of their imbecilic decisions is a good thing.

So I think that we can conclude that the only real and main reason for people not wanting them is because of health issues (even though the air you breath in day in day out is polluted AF) is it not? The hazard side I see where you're coming from but everything has its hazards especially if not used properly, for instance cars have many hazards but everyone still drives them even though you don't have to but that's beside the point. Thanks for all your input was good to hear a few different sides of the argument. (Some people talking more sense than others)

Thank you.

No.

When the one was set off last week I never heard one person say "cool". The word "idiots" was however heard many times.

If I want to see smoke Ill set fire to the tire farm on the A127.

They are a hazard and can affect the game.

Im sure we would be delighted if in the last 5 minutes tomorrow we are piling pressure on to get a winner and one of their fans lobbed one on the pitch.

Well I orgasmed

No. I'm not asthmatic. My issues are that they are annoying in that they may interrupt the game, and also that they are a fire hazard.

Personally I don't want to run the risk of being caught up in a Bradford type disaster just because some idiot thinks a bit of coloured smoke looks good.

Health issues
They're potentially dangerous
They look a bit crap
They obscure people's view of the match (although this might be a pro as well)
They're illegal and the club gets fined

The Luton fans said it quite well at the time I thought "You're an embarrassment".

Can I go against the tide of opinion on this thread and say I am all for people bringing in smoke bombs - but with one caveat.

The person wanting to let the bomb off has to stick it up their arrse before letting it off.

Again you are another person who clearly struggles at reading or interpreting as I said don't say "I don't like them because they are illegal" jheez

Did I not cover the hazard pint as well?...

Are we still doing this? what about we debate appealing abolition of the death penalty instead??
