so glad that most shrimpers are sensible and decent people.

As a fellow lower league team, constantly battling to balance the books, you should know that things like this dont help.

This^^^^

There is no justification for the 'supporters' actions - and there is no justification in lauding those actions.

You're giving the impression that you'll actuallly bring any fans.

actually think we will take more than you took last night, personally. From what i remember youve never had great away support. Heard there were a lot of hammers in there last night and 1600 isnt that many really.

Ah....it's Lenny "I hope he breaks a leg" SUFC bringing us more wisdom and glorious insight to the human mind.
"If you don't like it "turn a blind eye"....it's the stuff of legend. It's a philosophy of life that will serve us all well - not. One can only imagine the extra effort a few among the Orient fans will make back at the Hall to reciprocate the deep appreciation of their seats by some of our mindless eeediots. Of course you say "The seats were too flimsy and they should have been strong enough to take the wanton abuse - it's all Orients fault - nuffin' to do wiv us! The comments made by some on these forums give little room for optimism for our society. They say to us "get a life!" well, I have a life - and I have a desire to live in my home town without having to deal with small minded, behaviourally incompetent, conflict specialists who have no idea how to handle people who think differently - other than abuse them, or make stupid justifications for unjustifiable behaviour. I fear we will have more seats to replace than Orient have - but we only have ourselves, or rather the mindless few, to blame.

Do what you like we will have no big bill - I will fit them again for free using the tonnes of stock of seats the club already have

What if they do something different and throw something through my window walking to the ground, or key some cars around the ground ?

Can you replace those too ?

All vandalism is pathetic and whilst we shouldnt make mountains out of molehills condoning bad behaviour isnt right when it can affect the reputation of our club.

Well its like your cup final so yes you probably will. :winking:

Massive over reaction here. The seats were in a disgracful condidtion so it wouldn't take a lot to break them. Most damage probably happened when fans were standing on them after the goal and at FT.

Just because someone may swear, is a girl, is foreign, moans at players, may rip out seats, not wear club colours, not own a season ticket, not do every away game....it doesn't mean that they are 'not a football fan'. That is laughable and to be fair it grates me, that pathetic phrase is used so much on this forum.

I am not saying some things are acceptable or that they are right, but who are fellow fans to determine whether other people are 'football fans' or not. Fools

I was under the impression that the club had sold 1600/1700 before the night of the game, we got our tickets up there and that was 9 of us, I fancy at least another 200+ bought tickets on the night.

What a bizarre set of categories.

How can you put in a 'girl', 'someone who doesnt wear colours' in the same category as someone 'who rips out seats'.

Not really comparable.

yeah maybe. i just think we will take more :D

You do bring a lot to Roots Hall, but as its the second leg I would expect you to, as we would have taken a few more if last night was the 2nd leg.

We cant do to bad for away support taking that many, having your main stand, when the game was on TV.

I'm not comparing any of them JAM MAN, I am using examples of what I have read or heard from different areas. This includes at a match, in a pub, at work, on a football forum etc.

I have often heard "Women shouldn't go to football", or "Foreigners (tourists) at a match are not football fans" etc etc

Doesn't mean that they are not 'football fans', just the same as someone drunk or playing the fool doesn't.

Hope this clarifies what I meant and you can ease off getting so excited and ready to attack.

I dare say that there'll be slightly more than 3600 home fans at the second leg too.

I'm not excited enough to start typing in caps..

Some do say women shouldn't go to football (very few Id say), there's far far more who say people who smash up seats shouldn't.

Some people need to realise its not 1987 anymore, luckily the majority already do.

Good point.

But thats because theres a lot of West Ham fans around here to boost the Orient away crowd who couldnt be arsed to go to Brisbane Road to sit in the home end.

This really made me laugh. The days a re long gone where we had West Ham, Arsenal and Spurs fans following us on a Friday night. I doubt there are any West Ham fans that also follow Southend, the hatred is too great. I would suggest that it is your crowd that was made up of such fans, otherwise how do you explain the increase in attendance. As for great support, we always bring numbers to Orient, i can remember a few years back selling out our seat allocation and having to be allocated on half the terracing behind one of the goals. The official number given last night was 1755, yet there were not too many empty seats so could have been more, where were all the home fans?????? You may well bring similar to our place, but then most of you live in Essex so not far to travel. I would suggest that due to last nights result and the chance it will be on Sky, you may not actually bring as many as first thought.

Jam Man (No caps so I'm not as excited now) I am not saying things like ripping out chairs is right, if they was ripped out and not broken following celebrations than I too think this is pointless and a bad reflection on all of our club.

I am simply saying too many folk think they are whiter than white and that this allows them to think they are more of a football fan than someone else.

As for your 1987 comment - in many ways, football was a lot better to attend and watch back in them days. I think there is pro's and con's for football both pre and post Sky Sports Era.
